Some additional info...
I found this info from BMW
-we've had a lot of hot days & cool nights lately.

& from someone else.....
From the M brand manager in the US:
"In low ambient temperatures the ethanol can separate from the fuel and absorb water which then subsequently sinks to the bottom of the fuel tank. Since this is the pick up point for the fuel pump this very lean mix can lead to idle problems, or stalls for a limited period of time."

One of the most reputable race and performance shops here in Canada,
"Engineered Automotive" tell their customers not to use Sunoco 94 over extended periods,
due to corrosion problems to fuel components caused by ethanol induced moisture.

^thanks. Interesting stuff. Ethanol isn't the dream fuel some want to position it as. In the US they are mandated to have 7%+ in all their gas but it hasn't happened everywhere yet due to shortages of supply/plants.
The ethanol thing is a joke and pushed purely for political reasons. In the US it is subsidized by approx $42/barrel. It's not economically viable and I can't see it lasting for long.
I haven't found out much in Canada yet but know it is heavily subsidized too.
