screwed =\

I just bought a G Coupe and found out the clutch grinds in 3rd n 4th. I noticed it the day i took the test drive but the dealership (one on finch) said that it will go away and that its how you push your clutch you'll eventually get use to it. 3 days after I took it home I called them and they said they will take a look at it the following week. When I brought it back 10 days after I bought (3 days after the 7day return policy) the dealer checked it out..didnt do anything and just said oh we cant fix it, its a ware n tear issue, but if you want you can purchase this ext warranty (it was like $2000+) to get it fixed. I said I need it fixed asap and the dealership said well you have to live with it for a few months then we can make the claim just so Autoguard (the warranty company) doesnt think anything. I said are you sure this covers clutch? The dealship said yes you can call them if you dont believe me. I called Autoguard and they said it does NOT cover clutch! Not even under ware n tear!! So now Im screwed... I have an 03 M6 Coupe with a messed up clutch and now I have to fix it out of my pocket? I didnt even have this car for a sinlge month yet.! I went to infiniti and they said it might be synchro - trans which is $3500 or clutch $2500! What can I do in terms of legal action against selling me a car thats not fit? Im very disappointed with the car, and its such a nice ride. Pls Help..any helpful suggestions?

i'm trying to feel some sympathy for u... but damn man.. why would u buy a car off a lot that has a grinding transmission??!!?

sounds like the person who owned the car before u beat the transmission up. it's probably the synchro's that are gone. who knows what else might be bad... but knowing infiniti, they'll probably tell u that the clutch is crapped out too just to make a few more bucks.

i always thought that there was a 30 day guarantee to buying any car... but i'm no lawyer. best advice is to call the automobile protection association:
www.apa.ca
2 Carlton St. suite 1319
Toronto, Ontario
M5B 1J3
Telephone: 416 204-1444
Fax: 416 204-1985
E-mail: apatoronto@apa.ca

Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m.

you'll probably have to pay a 70$ membership fee... but they will give u the proper low-down on what is going on and what course of action u can take. they may even mediate between u and the dealership.

sorry to hear what happened... i hope everything works out for u.

Thats a crock of BS. I'd go down there with a demand letter from an attorney. Also if you speak with the general manager and explain the situation you may get a few good results.

dealership (one on finch)

The dealer clearly lied to you although you should have thought twice about it when you first heard the grinding.

But don't leave this any longer, get down there asap, look mad and pissed, walk in and only talk to the general manager. Tell them to work something out, or your going to take legal actions.

I know those guys, they won't want you to take any legal actions, because they know better. Go there, look pissed, and dont come out until they do something.

thanks guys i really appreciate all your help. As for what dealer it is, no its not The Collection on finch but its in that same block (Bay Auto Zone). I actually wrote a letter to OMVIC and sent a copy to the manager of the BayAutoZone and hopefully this will resolve it. I also want to add I got it checked today at a garage to inspect if it was ever in an accident. They told me some more bad news. The cars rear panels (both left and right as well as the rear bumper) were not original paint!! It was obvious too! Bay Auto Zone failed to tell me about that as well. The dealership showed me the carfax that there was no accident. But it was obviously repainted (such a crappy job too!!) *sigh* anymore suggestions will help alot thanks guys

^ Are you considering working getting your money back and a refund on the taxes paid? Even if that cost you a small administration fee it might be worth it. In any event if they won't satisfy you I would strongly suggest retaining a lawyer to make a demand letter and proceed further if necessary.

^ good advice.... don't waste any time do it ASAP.
With a legal document in hand, it's amazing what results you can achieve....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
:stepping on soap box:
For others considering a used car (especially out of warranty)....
Never, Never, NEVER, sign a deal w/o having the car inspected buy a mechanic of your choosing.
Inspect first sign later.
If the salesman won't let you or tries to persuade you otherwise.... WALK on the deal.
