Electronic AND spray rust proofing??

I pick up my new G35 from the dealership last night. It already came with the dealer-installed electronic rust inhibitor thing. I'm pretty skeptical as to whether it really prevents rust, but it just came with the car.

It's this thing:

I think it's like the Counteract that Canadian Tire's been flogging.

On my previous cars I've used Krown rust proofing and I've been happy with it. Do you think it's worthwhile to Krown/Rustchek the car in addition to having the electronic inhibitor? I'm leaning towards having the car sprayed thinking that it's only another $100 to protect a $50,000 car.

BTW, I'm planning on keeping the car 5+ years, possibly 10+ like our old car.

The electronic gadgets are pretty suspect IMHO. I know that if you leave your vehicle for a week plus it will run your battery down.

FKL118.......+1 on those suspicions......

Like you, tho, I've had excellent luck with Krown and would strongly recommend it provided you'll keep the g for that length of time....

Krown can be a little messy (only) but it's well worth the bother.

Congrats on the new G, bro....enjoy......

Electronic = uesless. Spray = good. Krowne is ok, find a good location and you're set, or find a good mechanic to do it.

Any issues with the formulation fouling the electronics in the confined spaces, ie: doors?

I went ahead and had the car Krowned this morning. I used a $10 off online coupon that expires end of today.

Everything went well as expected. Of course there's now a big puddle of oil on the street under the car.

Good move, fkl, - It's a little messy for a while but it sure prevents rusting...
Cheers

Does anyone have preference/experience with a Krown dealer in the GTA?

I'm around Richmond Hill.

Thanks,

I went to a Krown in Scarborough. The address is 133 Midwest Rd. They just recently moved to this location; they were previously a little further east on Lawrence.

I don't live anywhere near there but I've always gone there because they've done a good job on my previous cars. It's actually a one man operation. He's an older fellow who has been doing this for 20 years. He does a very thorough job, and you can sit there and watch him work on your car if you want.
