I'm recently noticing that upon engine start up, in severe cold weather, like we've been experiencing lately, there is this odd hissing noise of some sort. I'm wondering weather any other G35coupe owners have experienced an odd engine noise immediately upon start. I notice that it only happens if the engines been exposed to long periods of cold weather..once the engine warms up etc.. the noise dissappears.

 

yah..even some kinda high pitched whine for a sec.


G don't like the cold

 

ya i get it too, gets worse when driving while cold.
sounds awful. the car generally feels very slugish when cold, difficult to change gears etc.
let it warm up

I get a ringing noise which apparently is the fuel pump

I hear a sort of whistling noise in the cold... it happens for the first 2 mins maybe when driving in extreme cold weather... it really sounds like the wind whistling around somewhere, but only in the cold for the first couple of mins. I've tried changing the heating controls, windows, sunroof, etc.. no difference.. anyone know what I'm talking about?

 

YAP .. got that too, sorta sounds like from the sunroof or from the back window as if there is a really small wind leak or draft? regardless of whether the roof is up or down....?

odd .. but then goes away when the car heats up moreso.

 

Hey guys. Its good I started this thread. The noise comes from the engine area. Something to do with the belt maybe? It seems like couple of you are referring to something else that you are hearing when you are in the cabin or in the vehicle. Once again I am talking about some hissing, some odd noise only when the weather is really cold such as minus 10 or believe for a few minuuts or so upon engine start up. Have any of you reported this problem to service at a dealership?
