Any Canadians investing in US Real Estate

With the current strength of the Canadian dollar and weakness of the US housing market in many areas the US is becoming a more attractive investment.

Is there anyone here that has or is considering purchasing real estate? I'm starting to get a little hungry for some of that action but am not sure where a good place to start is.

We have bought one property and loaded up on some US currency yesterday in order to make further purchases. We have chosen Scottsdale. It is not the most undervalued but it is safe from hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and all the other natural disasters that plague many states. As well, it is one of the cleanest friendliest places in the US. My business partner is going down on the weekend to look for more property.

Thanks Mark. That's right, I saw your post and some pics of the property you bought. From where you are in Alta that's a great choice. Good deal on the currency. It may have a bit more run in it yet but yesterdays high of 98.74 was pretty darn good.

I stayed at the JW Marriott in Scottsdale a couple of years ago and absolutely fell in love with the place!
Awesome

Dollar is at 1.00045 this morning. Mark the calendar, Sept 20th the dollar is at par. It's been a long time. Canadian Peso jokes are now a relic of the past.

Looking to buy a few Grand in US currency I might wait till early October and see if goes up some more. I was looking in Columbus GA at some realestate(I have a close friend that lives there) buy a damn nice house for a fraction of the price a home up here costs.
