Toronto International Autoshow

Anyone going to check it out???
If anyone sees Jim Kenzie(toronto star), we should ask if he would like to attend one of our local meets in T.O.
He loves the G35!!!!

Re: Toronto International Autoshow

I did that once. Back in the days when my dad just brought a Maxima. The sales give me couple of free tickets to the car show.

Fat chance on getting "free" tickets. I tried about a month ago

If you do by chance get them, your lucky!!!

Re: Toronto International Autoshow

Who went? How was it? I am going, but need some help. I plan to buy a 2-day pass for me so I can go once with my dad and once with my girl. How will they know if people buy a 2-day pass and just give it to another person to use? Do you think they would really care? Does anyone know if the $5 off coupon is valid for the 2-Day Pass?

1-Day Pass = $18
w/ coupon = $13

2-Day Pass = $25

Re: Toronto International Autoshow

Hey Rumble,

I attended Monday night, and came away fairly impressed.

With regards to tickets, I say buy off a scalper. On a Monday night I saw at least 4 guys working Front street. I'm sure on a busier day, you'll find over a dozen of them. The guy that approached us offered 2 tix at half price. I'm positive that can easily be haggled down. Don't know about the coupons or day passes, since I went in with vendor passes through a friend.

As for the show itself....The lasting impression for me was the number of high end cars that were open to the public. I've gone to the show for the past 4 years, and this was the first time I ever sat in a Jaguar. Every Jag was unlocked, and I sat in every damn one! Mercedes had everything up to an S class open, and Audi had most of their lineup unlocked. Good for them to realize that positive impressions like making yourself more accessible to the masses lays the groundwork for future sales. On the flipside, the folks at BMW and Lexus just sat there stone-faced with their keys firmly tucked in their breast pocket. I guess even a 320i is too good for us average people...Cheers to Nissan/Infiniti for having excellent props and staff on hand. It felt good to be approached to get an opinion on the new Max...Now onto some observations....The Acura TSX is very underwhelming. So average in every way...The Mazda 6 is a nice car, but only with a V6 and leather...The new Maxima is a stunner (you'll learn to like the grill after a few minutes of gawking), and is every bit as good as our beloved G's. But the rep said it ain't gonna be cheap: 38K for the base model, which is loaded...The Murano and FX35 put the Lexus RX300 and Acura MDX to shame. And speaking of Acura, not one person came within 10 feet of the RL and TL during the 5 minutes I was in the vicinity...Chrysler has struck gold with the Crossfire. I can't see this car not selling well...Hey, Ford and GM, get your act together - your cars are boring...And that includes the XLR roadster which becomes less stylish the more you look at it...And finally, good for Hyundai and Kia for building decent cars for the masses, and not pretending to be something they are not...

Ultimately, seeing what I saw and hearing what I heard, I'm glad I bought my G. In all honesty, there are only a handful cars that I would take over it, and they all cost at least twice as much.

Hesperian.

Re: Toronto International Autoshow

Great report Hesperian. Glad you still read and starting to post here in G35driver

Unlike most of you lucky dudes, instead of going to the Auto Show, I spent $15/ticket and went to the Interior Design Show at CNE the past Saturday, against my own will of course:P

G35: Black with Willow/Canadian Premium Package.
Z3: Silver with Red leather interior.

Re: Toronto International Autoshow

So I ended up going to the show tonight and is was NOTHING compared to January 2003 Detroit Auto Show. I attended both and the Toronto one, although good, didn't come close to Detroit's NAIAS.

However, I must admit that they had some cars here that Detroit did not have. For example, the X-Men Mazda RX-8, Toyota's new Echo 2dr and 4dr hatchbacks, etc. Yes, there were a crazy amount of car doors open to everyone which was REAL nice. Found out that Canada is not getting most of the amazing cars like the Audi RS6, VW Golf R32, etc. I did have a good time non the less.

Hesperian > I did pay for the 1-Day pass since my girl told me she would not longer be going because of her studying. Great report and I totally agree with what you said. Thanks for the advice about the scalpers, but unfortunatly I read this post after coming back from the show

stalker > Yo that is jokes...gotta love the wife. Hey, it's not too late to go still. Sunday is the last day and they close at 6pm on the last day.

sljer > I didn't get any products but at Skydome there were booths set up where people can buy stuff. Kennedy HiFi had a great display with an Escalade and a TL with full sound audio and aftermarket DVD players, screens, navigation, etc.

DallyCurtis > I picked up some $5 off coupons at the Hwy 7 and Kennedy Nissan dealership. They have stacks, where you can grab and I hear that Sunoco gas stations give them out as well. I don't think anyone sold Ziano there tho, didn't see any.

I will post pix when I upload them onto the computer and put them on a web host. Enjoy the show all.

I went over the weekend and I enjoyed it...I got in for free because my buddy writes for the Globe and Mail...$20 cover blows.
Hard to pick a fave but I really liked the Volvo Evolve Concept...sweet
I also enjoyed the Pontiac Soltice and the Saturn sky Dodge Slingshot was cool. I still can't believe the Z4 is less than 60 g's.
The G obviously still looks sweet.
By the way the Lambo Merciallago is sick...and never mind the Porsche Carrera GT...wow.
I agree the NSX was a snoozer...
Respect to Chrysler...
