paint flaking off home-link mirror

had my car serviced this morning. my rear-view mirror continues to rattle... and the paint is flaking off the home-link buttons.

-they apparently applied tsb bt04-009a to the mirror for the rattle. i have no clue what this tsb is ... but the mirror continues to rattle. anyone know what tsb this is? i can't seem to find it.

-the paint flaking off the mirror... they say nothing can be done. it's only covered under 1 year for warranty? wtf ever happened to 4 year bumper-to-bumper warranties? is this for real? a $50k car.. the fu**ing paint is falling off on the inside and it's not covered under warranty??

i give up.

IDK about the mirror TSB details, but I fixed my rattle by cutting narrow strips of plastic & jambed them between the glass & frame.
On mine it cured the problem completely.

Re: the button paint.... it's a common problem.
- it's due to the acidic oil on our fingers.
Many share your feelings about the issue.... the paint should have been better.

FWIW.. you could change the program to the other buttons periodically to share the wear & tear.

I had the same problem with the button also. My dealer replaced it no problem. And mine is closer to two years old.

i've had 2 prior cars with homelink.. and never has the paint chipped away. the quality absolutely sucks on these mirrors. i don't see why they didn't just replace the damn thing like they did for u. makes me wonder about all the other cheap parts they must be sticking in this car where u don't see them.

i'll give this a try. when i squeeze my mirror the rattle is gone for a few minutes then comes back. i'm getting rid of my car soon.. but this rattling has been going on for a year now... and it's starting to drive me crazy. even passengers are asking me wtf is up with the cricket in my mirror. last week i gave a client a lift to the airport. he was talking business to me and stopped mid-sentence to comment on how annoying/distracting it was. we both joked around on how infiniti must be the ford of japan.

my other 2 buttons are already taken for 2 other doors. so unless i keep re-programming.. nothing i can really do.

I had the mirror TSB done on mine and it only helped slightly. I did the InTgr8r fix and it worked perfectly. No buzz or rattle ever again. No issue with the button paint....yet.

i hope u don't get any problems with the paint.. b/c it really cheapens the interior up. all i ever see now when going up to press my button is that big white area staring back at me. i'm thinking of just scratching the rest of the paint off with my fingernail and then using a sharpie to draw in a little house and the number 1 lol

Haha good idea.

I'm not too worried. I'll just mix some dye to match and paint it if necessary. I've touched up my center console already.

yeah.. there's no way in touching it up.. unless your some artist. looks like they use a little house template on the white plastic then spray the button down with some cheap black paint. for the money we pay on this car.. it's a slap in the face of the owner.. especially considering my warranty is still valid.

i was actually thinking of calling customer service and telling them that my paint is chipping and i don't even use the buttons at all. how can they prove otherwise???
