what spec of 17" winter tires should I get

Hey..

here's a noob question.

i am lookin for a set of 17" winter tires for my 04 G35 Coupe 5AT (non-brembo) but I have no idea what spec I should get so that my speedometer won't go off too far...

currently I have 225/25/18 fr and 225/45/18 rear summer tires....

thanks....

This is what Tirerack recommends:

http://www.tirerack.com/snow/WinterP...lar=Base+Model

Hopefully the link works fine, but if not, they recommend:

front: 225-50-17
rear: 235-50-17

Hope that helps.

Hey Smart guy FWIW
Here's a responce I got last year from Jerry who used to be on this board often. I don't know if Jerry still does this, he's changed jobs and life goes on,eh.

I finally managed to get myself back online - its darned near
impossible to live without a PC these days. You mention you have a coupe, is this coupe
NON-BREMBO? If so those wheels you have will work, mind you they will
sit more in due to the higher offset on them.
The ICEBEARS are a good choice and I managed to use the W400 myself, I
found in the deeper harsher stuff they are a bit slippery - but none the less
they are a great bang for the buck tire. They tend to maintain the OEM feel
muchbetter due to the harder compound and sidewall construction.
Here is the price for the rubber supplied:
Hankook W300
215/50/17 $600.00 set plus applicable taxes
225/50/17 $648.00 set plus applicable taxes
And for comparison a tire that I used quite frequently on all the G35
loaners I used to manage. Since you mentioned you get lots of snow, I
highlyrecommend these next to the Bridgestone Blizzaks for their exceptionaldeeper snow and ICE performance. These were the:
Dunlop Graspic DS2:
215/55/17 $726.00 set plus applicable taxes - this size is great for
deeperdriving conditions.
225/50/17 $796.80 plus applicable taxes each - this size is good for
coupes, that want to maintain dry grip performance
Bridgestone Blizzak WS50
215/55/17 $844.80 set plus applicable taxes
225/55/17 $919.20 set plus applicable taxes
And for an awesome highly rated performance tire I used this on my own
demo,Dunlop Sport M3's these had awesome dry performance - on par with thePirelli SottoZeros
Dunlop Sport M3
225/50/17 H-rated $1084.00 set plus taxes
Let me know if I can assist you any further - OR if you managed to get
a better price than what I have quoted, please give me a chance to try
and match or beat that price.

Cheers,

Jerry

Sir Very polite and respectful Smart, but .. just because I'm a member of the OFC ( Old Farts Club ) there's no need to call me Sir. We're all young at heart .
