i agree with costa rica, flight is REALLY cheap, even last minute. was there in the spring. good combo of beach and rainforest.


if you want to shell out a lil more cash but bang for your buck, thailand or philippines, could do a lot with just a few hundred bucks and see amazing things, yet for those you mite want a tourguide or be with someone that knows what they are doing.

 

I am actually leaving to go to the D.R. on Sunday morning. Staying in the riu palace. It is all inclusive and after passports and all other fees it was about $3200 for 2 people. We are coming back sunday the 28th. I will take pictures and post them up when I get back.

 

I'm sure you'll have an awesome time, the only part my sister didn't like was the cab ride to the airport on the way home. She got drunk with the staff on her first night and learned how to maranga.

 

The hotel actually sends an armored bus to pick you up and take you back to the airport. I was told that the bus even has a turret on it because everybody carries down there and they are still technically at war with Haiti. Needless to say my a$$ won't be leaving the resort.

you can try out Guam where i live... alot of tourists come here... mainly from Japan, Korea, and U.S. ... mostly asian ppl come here during winter time.. since we are always sweating our ***** off in Guam... when they freeze over there in Japan they come here to relax and sweat.. lolz..

 

Go to Europe. Its a bit more but its worth it.

Took your advice and booked my trip to the Mayan Riviera staying at the Coba resort. Can you recommend some day trips to go on as I dont want to spend all my time at the resort. Also, did you get private transportation going to and from the airport?

Having been there myself for our wedding, some attractions that I would recommend are the Tulum and Chichen Itza Ruins, Xcaret and Xel-Ha.

Good stuff Peter, I'm sure you will like it. Our trip included the trip to and from the resort. They provided a nice AC coach with cold Cervasas if desired. Its about 1 1/2 -2 hours from Cancun.
The places Shane mentioned are great, send me your email via PM if you want and I will send you some pics later tonight.
I really enjoy snorkelling so we would jump on a Collectivo and head to Akumal Bay Beach which is very close. Great beach there and we would regularly see at least a dozen sea turtles, barracuda, Rays, and beautiful fish between the shore and the beautiful coral reef we would swim out to.
We have been working with our agent for a week at Akumal Bay Beach Resort for a week then Bahai Principe Coba for the second week. This will be our 3rd year at Coba.
There is lots to do in the area. Cenotes are beautiful, Coba ruins is very primitive by the jungle, Chichzen Itza Ruins are massive, there is a great beach at the Tulum Ruins. If you want to shop a bit you can go to Playa del Carmen. We booked a charter on a 32' Sportfishing boat with another couple for half a day at Puerto Adventurous, where they say a great Golf course is located.
The resort itself has lots of things to do and see, good food, entertainment etc.

Peter another note. I first found out about the Mayan Riviera from Balzz's vacation there, then Garnet Canuck was married down there. They both gave great reports. Last year inTgr8r joined us and as he said earlier in this post that it was first Class.
I can hardly wait to go again myself.

 

Well we got that dusting of snow today, so this afternoon I went and paid for a couple of weeks at the Bahia Principe at the Mayan Riviera in Feb .
The only thing I did not like the last two years on our trip down there was the cramped airplane ride there and back so I remedied that, we booked Club Class for our Flights. So we are set
