Vacation Recommendations

For those of you who are well traveled, can you recommend some places to go for vacation? Preferably all inclusive.

Thanks

Peter

Was there last January, very nice. Not as developed as some of the resort destinations. Flight isn't too long and there are lots of resorts less than 2 hrs from either airport.

My sister stayed at the second best Riu resort in Punta Cana last November and had a great time. She said that the staff were very friendly, and the food and drinks were excellent (very different from my all inclusive experiences). She's planning to go back and stay at the same resort early next year.

Hi ChristianN,

Can you find out the name of the resort?

Thanks

Peter

I think it's this one:

http://www.riu.com/en/hotel-riu-pala...-republic.html

but I'll call her tomorrow and ask to make sure.

Looking to be away for 4-7 days depending where we end up. Looking to leave either the last week of Nov or first week of Dec.

I have a travel agent friend who can get be discounts, I just need to find a nice to to go and relax. The main reason I am going away is for my GF b-day.

This is actually the resort that she stayed at:

http://www.riu.com/en/hotel-riu-pala...-republic.html

The one I posted earlier is the newest and most expensive, but as a benefit to staying at either of the Riu Palace resorts you can use the facilities (including the pools and all inclusive bars and restaurants) at all of the other Riu resorts in Punta Cana

Been there twice and it beats the snot out of Dominican, Cuba, Cancun, etc. If you don't mind paying a little extra and are ok with being around an older crowd, you will love it (Im relatively young, but not into the whole partying vacation thing so this was a perfect place for me).

Now, if you're talking about REAL vacation...nothing, and I mean nothing beats a cruise!!!! Again, not as cheap as a trip to Cuba, but i'll tell ya, it's amazing! Look into virtually anything in the Royal Caribbean line...and if you're a gangstaaaaaaaa...try Freedom of the Seas. (I've boarded the Navigator and Mariner, so I can only speak from that experience)

Varadero, Cuba - Sol Sirenas-Coral resort. Went there last January and had the time of my life. Might very well go back this January.

I really enjoy the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. We have gone the last two years in February and stay at the Gran Bahia Principe Resort. They have three different 5 Star Resorts on the complex. We stayed at Coba last year for a couple of weeks..
We enjoy snorkelling there and visiting the many Mayan ruins, pyramids etc.

Sounds like my kinda vacation. We're considering either Mexico or Hawaii; I'm leaning toward Hawaii because we can snorkel, I can surf, etc but also they have a world-class astronomical observatory. Horseback riding for my daughter, plus some WW2 history since my son is big into that. And as expensive as I'm sure the islands are, our dollar should go a long way there.

EDIT: Oh and whale-watching!! The Princess loves animals and would love nothing more than to swim with dolphins as well.

Then again, there's always Disney World...anyone with experience there, including taking kids around 7-10?
