While we're on this topic.....
For those that put it to bed for the winter.... no driving at all.

Do you put in fresh oil when putting it to bed
AND
Fresh oil in the spring?

I park mine for winter, I park it the same way I do as if it were summer.

I fill the tires with more air.
I leave the current Oil and Filter
I clean the car
I put fabric softener sheets in the car to suck up any moisture
No parking brake.
I disconnect the battery
Then cover it.

6 Months later or what ever it's been, uncover, connect battery, put it some fresh oil (not change the oil), start the car, let it idle till warm, maybe rev it a bit cause I miss the sound.

Take it around the block easily, let things warm up again.
Change Oil and Filter.
Check Air pressure
Start summer.

thats just the steps I take, the car isn't sitting long enough to go crazy storing it.

Yes and yes. On the first oil change I pass on changing the filter. A new filter goes on in the spring.

For many years I took out the batteries from my cars and recharged a few times. About 8 years ago I stopped doing that as an experiment, that ended up working fine. To date I've never had a low or dead battery including the last 4 winters of storing the G. The past 3 years I have started and drove the car at least twice between Dec 1 and April 1 however.
actually, for the 03 coupe at least, there is no key slot to open the trunk. Keyless opens everything....but only the key can open the drive side door.

I put in fresh oil/filter before i put it to bed and just changed it again today....i only do it twice per year, so it's not that expensive. I'm on schedule 2 (low milage) so i just have to change it every 6 months.

So... does anyone use the cheap stuff for storage?
seems like a waste to use M1 or the like just to sit there....
or is my Scottish heritage showing?

here is my thought

40 bucks for 6-7 months with piece of mind that it will start up no problem etc
or go cheap and have to worry about it each time you pull it out of storage.

I agree, but
I'm talking about if you store it & leave it 'till spring.

Yes, always. Cheap dino for storage works for me. I'll buy whatever is on sale.

I think we're on the same page.

im also putting my car into the garage, however, rather than leaving it like that for months(discconnecting the battery) and all other things, i thought every 2 weeks if i take the car for a drive in the underground garage(since its big enough to make tours)

do you think i should be fine?

thx for the input.

I'll be storing my car in an underground parking lot as well.

I'm thinking I won't be needing to disconnect the battery or anything, as I plan on driving it around the underground lot every week or two.

I think most of the storing techniques (good techniques too might I add!) in this thread are geared more towards the guys who are leaving their cars sitting in storage and left unattended for the entire winter season or more.

Depends on the temperature. I wouldn't want to stress the car if I didn't need to crank it in under optimal conditions.

As a side note, do you guys just disconnect the negative terminal or actually pull the battery out? I am going to go about doing it this weekend but I imagine I would need to remove the plastic trim to gain access to pulling the battery out.

I leave my battery as it is, did this for four winters now. No problems at all.
