USA 2008 G35 Sport 6MT coming home to CANADA - need help with daytime running lights

If anyone has information on this topic, please help. I really have a problem with letting Canadian Tire put in a generic relay. Is there any OEM stuff out there for this addition? I am in the Hamilton are - will travel across the border to arrange for the modification - if needed.

Thanks

Put piece of dark film over auto headllight sensor. It will think that it is always dark and turn lights on all the time

If during the inspection they shut the automatic lights off you would not pass the inspection. They have seen weak attempts like that before so are not likely to fool them. I thought 08s were G37s? I could be wrong though.

While that might seem ingenious it won't fulfill the requirement. One should have a lower intensity lamp that automatically comes when the car is started without needing an interior switch to be set in a correct postion (auto).

I'm surprised that Cdn Tire doesn't install this as I heard that they do.
I bought my 2006 over this past summer and the guy checking my car took probably 5 minutes to look mine over.
I called an Infiniti dealer and they will do it for $300....

It's not that big a deal in setting up though if you follow the instructions, with a slight modification...don't worry about hooking up the wire to the rear lamp and just hook up the Lead wire to whatever connection you have under the hood that comes on when the car is turned on.

Follow my post here as this is where i hooked it up to:
https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-forced-induction/179840-ok-tap-into-wire.html

If you don't like the set-up, you can always disconnect this when you pass the inspection.

Thanks

I will be getting the car mid-week next week. Thanks for the quick responses, and I will let you know how it ends up.

Only the coupe is G37, the sedan is still G35 ... for now.

i know they are strict now but i've been exporting a lot of FX's and G's to canada for a few of my fleet companies. also make sure you have the service letter that there are no open recalls but to hard wire in a DRL some shops specialize in it and are authorized to make it legal

da mayor:

Considering your exprort business, do you have any any contacts in and around the Toronto area, or even in New York state, that are authorized to do the conversion?

If you need pics of where the converter and how it was installed, hit me with a PM. My car was imported from Florida, so i had to get DRLs in it as well.

+1. if you want a temp, hardwire the foglamps to the battery. It should pass the inspection, of my friends got this done at Suburu.

The Infiniti dealership will do the conversion too, but it will cost about 3 to 4 times more than Canadian Tire will.
I paid $125 with module and install at Canadian Tire, works great!

My buddy called Alta Infiniti on Friday to quote getting his DRLs for his 05' G from Arizona and they had the nerve to quote $1500 or so. Obviously he will do it himself with guidance of our fellow G members that have done imports.
