Car Security for my NEW ride

SOOoooooooooooooooo.......I have now OFFICIALLY joined the club.

Purchased my 04 G35 coupe yesterday and pick it up tomorrow!!!!

I know the car has the factory alarm system but am considering getting another physical visual deterrent (ie. the club or something of that nature) to prevent it from being stolen.

Anyone use any other security products?? Any recommendations?? Or is the factory alarm top class??

Welcome to G Driver and congrats on the G. Auto and the '05+ 19's on it.

I don't have anything extra on my car. The ignition has a chip to help prevent theft. I definitely could not stand dealing with something like the club. The only thing I would consider if I was worried is something like Boomerang - tracking.

i use the Club as a visual deterrent. i know our cars have chips & immobilizer and all that good stuff, but a club is an in-your-face active deterrent. the hope is that a junkie/thief would simply move on to the next car.

another easy crime prevention method is to leave absolutely nothing in your car, visible or otherwise. i park outside behind my building in Vancouver and I feel that the combo of the Club and spotless interior are my best defenses. what else can one do? so far, no problems. knock on wood...

I use the club too. I think it sends a message to a thief that you take security seriously. Maybe they'll also assume you're taking other active measures against theft, like not leaving valuables in the car.

I also have a Compustar alarm.

I guess I'm just paranoid.

The Club is a waste of time in my opinion, a thief can just use a hacksaw to cut the steering wheel and remove it. Chances are they may not get the car because it takes longer (and the immobilizer makes starting the car difficult) but you'll be left with more damage to repair. I got one when I bought my civic si in 1999 but I never ended up using it much.

The club in my opinion is old school. My personal thoughts on this is, if your G gets vandalized/stolen, your insurance is there to protect you. Heck, I saw a 84 Honda Accord with a club on it and I was literally LMAO. It is that retarded. You really dont have to be that paranoid over your G unless your park in a huge *** parking lot that is known for break ins/ vandalism.

the club is usless, all they need to do is cut the steering wheel. beside if they want the car they will get it no matter what.

I think i agree with Canucklehead. It's a visual deterrent....it at least can prevent from someone thinking to break in and just move on to someone else's.

I think i'm going to invest into a club as well......it's worth the additional piece of mind.

I haven't tried it, but it's interesting.

Otherwise, I've had a Compustar 900FMR or something like that on my integra. It had a bit or a break in period where I was getting false alarms for about two weeks but after I tuned it a bit, it was perfectly fine.

My base alarm (with shock sensor only and remote starter) + window module + power locks module (my car didn't have power locks) + microwave sensor (proxy sensor) went for about $700 incl. labour at Audioheaven. I highly recommend them.
