The Oiler teams of the 80s were easy to hate, certainly as a Flames fan. Nobody can deny Gretzky's talent, he's probably the third-best-ever but guys like Anderson, Kurri, Coffey, Tikkanen, Cement-Head...bastages! The only guy we liked was Steve Smith!!

We won a cup without Gretzky, Fuhr (for the playoffs), or Coffey. We could do it even though we lost 3 hall of fame players. Could the Flames? Gretzky never won a cup without the support he had in Edmonton. We were a much deeper team than just Gretzky. Oh and Kurri was the perennial Oilers playoff scoring leader, not Gretzky.

Very true.

On a side note, I am not sure I'll ever again witness a hockey team that was so dominate and exciting to watch as the Oilers were in the 80s.

You are right on that point... However I am exited to see just how good the kids make us in 2-3 years along with our stud defencemen Chorney and Petry when they join the already good young guys we have.

It's too bad that the Spoilers had to knock out the Canucks instead of a team like Nashville. I don't think Vancouver would of made it by the first round anyways though.

It's a shame that another Cdn team got knocked out.

I dont want to open up another can of worms but Im gald these canadian teams aren't in. They are the sole reason why there is expansion talk in the US but not in Canada (southern Ontario, more specifically.)
