Another accident thread

On my way to campus to write my first final of the semester, get to the end of the parking lot in my lane, it's hard to see who's coming from the left at the end so I always slow down and stay to the right as much as I can and turn at the very end...as I'm approaching the end of the lane, out of nowhere this guy comes flying around the corner, must have been going 60-65 km/h, smashes off the side of my car and then goes in the other direction and causes damage to 5-6 other parked cars.

A bunch of my friends were in the parking lot getting ready to leave campus and they saw the whole thing happen, they saw him booking it from the other end of the parking lot and what's funny is they were watching him cause they had a feeling he was going to hit something, it just happened to be me.

Sucks, had this car for almost two years, bought it through money I earned from co-op, babied it and spent so much money on maintaining it and everything. Have a ton of mods and parts lined up at home that were going to be installed this summer too. Never gotten a ticket or into an accident in my life either. Feeling so disheartened, feel like parting everything out and selling the car cause it just won't be the same anymore, or if I keep it I don't think I'll be spending any more money on mods.

Police came and did their investigation, took 2-3 hours while they took measurements and a lot of pics, should be getting the police report next week and they hopefully should be finding him at 100% fault. They did give him a ticket for reckless driving. Anyone have a rough idea of how much in damages this might be and also any info about diminished value claims in Toronto. I'm with State Farm and so is the other driver.

On to the pics:

It looks like it was a glancing blow, so you should be fine structurally.

I was so pissed when I got out my car, I can't even remember what I said to him but I was cussin the **** out of him and he was like "I didn't do anything, I wasn't speeding" but then when my friends came and said they saw everything, he admitted to it.

Yup it was C lot at UW, this happend at around noon, exam was from 12:30-3:00, got done at 2:30, ran to the exam hall, told the prof I just want to get the exam over with cause I was ready and didn't want to have to study for this course again so I wrote it from 4:00-6:30. What's crazy is they couldn't even get ahold of some of the drivers of some of the parked cars, when I left campus at 7, two or three of the cars were still glued to each other. Btw what did you study Smartidiot? I'm in 3B Electrical now, can't wait to be done, except for the co-op, it's been a pretty brutal 4 years.

Thanks Ian, yeah hopefully there is no structural damage. The driver is in my roomates class, I think he just got done an exam and maybe it didn't go so well or something. The G is solid though, me and the two passengers in my car didn't feel a thing, I didn't even flinch, I just remember starting to move my steering wheel to the right to get out of the way but it happened so fast there wasn't much I could do.

unreal. more props for maintaining composure and not beating the snot out of the *****. i would have to try with all my will power not to lay in to him. sorry to hear about this, man. it seems you take care and pride in your G, but a good body repair shop should get everything fixed well enough.

he's got some nerve to say he didn't do anything. to hit you and dislodge 5 other vehicles they way he did, he must have been going way too fast and not have even touched the brake pedal before, or after, hitting you.

his insurance will go way up, hopefully. but not enough to compensate the insurance carrier. i wonder if a reckless driving ticket will void his coverage?

i was in Operation Research/Computer Sciencce...
your prof is really nice taht he was willing to let you write the exam still.. my friend got dumped by his girlfriend 10 mins before his final and he asked the prof to let him write the exam 2 hours later because of the emotional stress but instead all he got was a "see u next year"..

Waterloo engineernig and comp sci are widely known as the best programs among Canadian universities, i am sure you can get a better car after you are outta school!

good luck.

Glad to hear you're fine fais. G/L with the repairs and props for staying cool under fire.

That guy must be one heck of a fool to be able to do that much damage in a parking lot.
