A man is suffering serious injuries after a Mississauga car crash early this morning left his car sheared in half.
The victim, 34, was driving west on Eastgate Pkwy, between Tomken and Cawthra Rds., when he mounted the curb onto the median, spun sideways and hit a light standard on the passenger side around 2:30 a.m., said Const. Wayne Patterson of Peel region police.

The light pole fell across the road, severing his Nissan 350-Z in two and flinging debris about 100 metres. A second car coming across the scene crashed into the pole, but no one was injured.

“Speed is a huge factor in this accident, and we’re investigating whether alcohol or drugs are involved,” Patterson said.

The man is in critical condition in a nearby trauma centre.

Investigators have spoken to witnesses and believe there may be more. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-453-2121 ext. 3710.

+1, Glad no one else was seriously hurt and he/she pulls through alright.
More fodder for the "Speed Alarmists Lawmakers". Soon PC Fantino will be able to get a law passed so that he can arrest someone as soon as they buy a powerful car. They can then set up drive through arrest and impound stations at all Infiniti/Nissan dealerships.
I'm only going to drive in reverse from now on.

No repost police police around here. I've never been bothered by seeing things again especially on something like this that deserves a dedicated thread.

As others have said it's hard to believe someone can get through that kind of crash- at least without severe and permanent damage.

I know people get the urge to give it a shot on the street sometimes, but perhaps seeing things such as this will open their eyes and they will think twice when they get the urge next time. I know that scares the shiznitts out of me

Yah they kept repeating this on the radio over and over again. I dono how any one could survive a crash like that. The guy must have been doing some serious speed for it to split in two like that.

Very true. My attitudes and practices have changed dramatically over the years. It's too bad many of us at younger ages don't have more fear, caution and sense.

No worries with reposts from me boys........I'm sure we'd all rather see it twice than not at all anyway.....
