Finally got my car!
Finally got my car!
I picked up this awesome machine on April 7th, 2004. What a superb car!
I owe a lot of thanks to a guy I met on this forum last fall ... he was also thinking of buying a coupe, so we exchanged emails, and last week we went to Agincourt Infiniti Nissan and said "We want two cars, and this is how much we want to spend."
Well, after a lot of negotiating and the usual drama, Barry the sales guy finally gave us our price (or close to it) and we did the deal for two G35 coupes ( 6MT + Nav in silverstone -- 6MT + Nav in twilight blue).
I think it helped that we bought them on March 30 (end of a slow month). I hear these rumors that Infiniti is "motivated" to sell all the 04 cars before announcing some possible changes to the 05 model (seat memory function, maybe 20 hp?)
Whether or not those rumors are true, I wanted this car now, and I'm more than happy with the deal we got.
I would highly recommend the folks at Agincourt Infiniti Nissan (see Barry or Lisa) -- excellent people to deal with!
They also gave me a good trade-in for my Mercedes SLK AMG -- which is a huge relief because it saves me the headache of selling it privately.
Anyway, this car is awesome!
Thanks to all the very friendly G35 owners who answered questions/ gave advice at the meeting last fall (Fairview mall parking lot).
Happy to join you all and see you at the next meet!

Re: Finally got my car!
Hey Kyle,
Congrats on the purchase of your new coupe. I'm sure you will really enjoy it. I also bought my car from Agincourt( Mike Chang was my salesman). The sales dept was very nice to me and really didn't pressure my into buying the car right away. I made a few visits before I made a commitment with them.
Did they offer any extras at no charge? Just wondering.
I delt with Lisa too. She was very nice aswell. As for the service dept, I can't really coment upon them except for the wrong oil being put in my car last year but it was rectified very quickly. Did you purchase a synthetic oil package like I did. If so, make sure you tell them that you have bought the package so there are no screw ups.
Hope to see you at the next meet sometime in the near future...

Re: Finally got my car!
Glad to hear that you had a good experience with Agincourt. Maybe they have finally smartened up. I turned down my sale for my coupe because of the poor trade in value that they were going to give me. I went to another dealer and got $3000 more.
Congrats and I look forward to seeing another coupe at the meets.

35bills,
Hey! We talked at that last meet... thanks for the welcome!
At Agincourt, they gave me a deal on the lifetime oil change, the 3M clear bra and the paint protection/ sealant.
The lifetime oil change deal made sense, since it would pay for itself in ~ 3 years, then after that it's free for the life of the car. The only problem is I didn't get the synthetic, I cheaped out and got the regular. I think I'll pay the difference and upgrade to the synthetic plan later on.
My last two cars got stone chips all over their front ends a few months after I got them, so I learned my lesson and got the clear bra this time.
I decided to get the paint sealant process because I park outside right under a tree, so I get tons of sun on the car, plus tree sap, plus birds hang around in that particular tree and are always dumping on my car...
I'm thinking of getting a plastic owl or a hawk (decoy) and stick it on that tree to keep the birds away -- man, I can't understand how such tiny birds can produce such massive dumps sometimes! ;-)
The other reason I got the paint sealant was because I managed to get a good discount on it... at full price it would have been pretty expensive for something that has to be re-done once in a while, and it's not much different that Zaino-ing it myself.
Anyway, I love this car!
After I park it, I can't just walk away from it... I turn around and kind of linger there staring at it for a while... thinking to myself "holy smokes, what an awesome car!"

Re: Finally got my car!
Yeah, I probably shoulda shopped my trade-in around a bit, I might have gotten more for it elsewhere (or if I sold privately)... but I just wanted to get out of it quick.
I had a number in my head and I figured the dealership would lowball me, but they actually offered me what I was expecting, so I took it (plus if I sold privately, I wouldn't get the tax break on the G that I got at the dealership).

I wouldn't suggest you to order from Agincourt, i have bad experience purchasing from them. And i do think they give lower trade-in value compare to other dealership, i was too rush and impatient to compare price by that time though. But the worst is their service. I ordered my at May 2003, and the sales person said i will be getting my car by mid-June. So i waited and call in around mid-june, my sales man told me that i will be getting my car next week and it is already at vancouver. (which turn out to be one of their mistake) I called the following week, same "next week" replied. And by the end of june, i called in they still giving me the same answer. I got upset and go into the dealership after, i ignore my sales but go straight to the sales manager and ask him why does it take 3 weeks to ship my car from vancouver to toronto? He was surprised and went to check the computer, find out that my car is not even at vancouver yet, then i told him that my sales told me my car was at vancouver 3 weeks ago, while keep delaying it by saying "it will be here next week". So the manager ask the sales, and it end up the truth is the sales thought another shipped G was mine so told me at the first place, but after realizing, he still BS with me for 2 weeks everytime i called in. The sales then said it's the manager's fault telling him about the wrong shipment at the first place (they thought someone else car was mine), but then i ask the salesman "it might be the manager screw up the first place, but why don't you just tell me the week after that you guys made a mistake but have to keep BSing?! and make me think i'll be getting my car next week?" The sales remain speechless. And then i went ahead to tell the manager that i left more than 5 msg to the salesman and he never make any call back, he actually didn't bother to call at all! I just don't think i should be treated this way when i am going to purchase 46000 car from them. So i told the manager i want to cancel the order then because i have already waited for 2 month and listening to the salesman's BS for a month and didn't even have my VIN# handy. That is the time they starting to care, the manager make few car and finally got my VIN#, and offer me spoiler or lifetime oilchange as an apologies. By the end of July, i finally got 1 call from them, and that's the only call i did get from them after leaving numorous voice message, and that's the day i got my car. btw, michael was my salesperson, i forgot the manager's name though.
Not only that, the service consultant has serious attitude problem too. 3 month after i go in to get my first oil change, i told the service dept. that i have lifetime oil change when i purchase the car. He then tell me to show him the cards, unfortunately, they didn't give it to me becuz by the time i got my car they ran out of the card, and they said they will mail it to me but never did. I told him i don't have it, and tell him they should mail to me but i didn't receive any. The service guy start saying "that is not my problem then". I got really pissed and shout: "that's not my problem either, it's you agincourt infiniti's problem!". The service guy finally make a call to sales dept and michael. and realizing they "forgot" to mail my lifetime oil change card. This is the worst dealership i've been to, i don't feel like i'm being treated as a customer at all! so i'd strongly suggest you to goto other dealership as they offer better trade-in value, and better service.

Re: Finally got my car!
Neohh,
I don't blame you for not recommending them after hearing that story. I would be furious too if they openly BS'd me like that.
(I say "openly" because I think that a subtle bit of BS'ing occurs regularly at almost any dealership -- maybe I'm cynical but I sort of expect it to some degree).
Lagos,
I can only say what my own firsthand experience was... I ordered my car March 30, received it April 7th.
Maybe my car came fast because I got the silverstone. I think the less common colours / option packages are the ones causing most of the grief. If they say your car is "on its way", then get a VIN# and a promise date.
The only two people I dealt with at Agincourt (Barry and Lisa) were organized and efficient down to every detail. My owners manual had my lifetime oil change card included in the folder, and the sales guy (Barry) and the admin person (Lisa) took me through everything step by step.
Lisa called my insuranc eagent and set everything up a few days before delivery, and they faxed me all the documents in advance, returned my calls right away, etc.
They also got my wheel locks, clear bra and paint sealant on the day before my pickup -- so I walked in, did the customer PDI, Nav training etc., and left with my G in about 20 minutes.
They also gave me a much better trade-in value for my Mercedes than Yorkville Infiniti (who seriously lowballed me -- but in fairness that was last fall, which is the wrong season to trade in a convertible). I didn't bother shopping around for a better trade-in value since I got what I was hoping for from Agincourt.
I have yet to see what their service dept. is like. I don't care if they're unpleasant, as long as they're competent -- I'm not expecting to need them for anything more than oil changes and scheduled maintenance for the next few years (hopefully).
Although with past cars, I've usually tried to get to know my service advisor and the service manager... that way, if there's ever a bigger problem, then I'm not a total stranger to them.
By the way, one piece of advice: where ever you end up buying your G, make sure you get in writing (on the purchase agreement) that the car will have less than 50km on the odometer when you pick up.
Good luck!

Re: Finally got my car!
Congrats on your purchase. It's funny how some dealerships will try to stiff you on a trade-in. When I bought my G35 Sedan, I went to 417 Infiniti and Guelph Infiniti. I traded in a 2001 Audi S4. I got $11,000 more for the car in Guelph, so guess who got my business? That was my second purchase at Guelph. I bought an 2000 I 30 t there and it was a fine car until I was rear ended. No comparison to the G though..
Re: Finally got my car!
Got mine from Willowdale Infiniti/Nissan and have been very happy with it. I paid 43K for 04 G35 Sedan RWD Prem. Navi
I've been to the Agincourt Infiniti too, they seemed nice but I've noticed most Infiniti dealerships have a very comfortable atmosphere and a no pressure feel.
Let's hope they stay this way :-)
