Stock Audio System Woes

This has probably already been encountered in 100+ threads, but I would like to know first hand how much of a difference changing the stock system would make. Ideally, I would just like to change the stock speakers (the fronts are brutal and are #1 priority). I would like to keep the HU intact - currently setup with the "premium" package.

Is there anyone in the GTA who could recommend a system set-up or atleast point me to a audio dealer who has dealt with the G35. Also, I would like to know what changes below 1K would make the best option.

Thanks

Well changing out the stock speakers will require you to swap out the Bose amp for an aftermarket amp to support the RMS/OHMs from the new speakers.

Can I swap the amp w/o laying down new wires?

If it's just as easy as a swap, im down and will be doing it ASAP.

^ You'd probably get much better feedback posting this in the Audio tech section rather than the Regional section.

No you would have to run power wire from the battery to the amp, ground the amp down and tap into the remote turn on wire.

Also +1000 on Garret reffering you to the audio section.

if you have the premium system change it out, even though it says bose speakers only the subs are no paper speakers. The rest are 10 dollar made in china cheap crap and paper. I was a little angry when I swaped it out because after all is a $50k+ car brand new.

I just did an audio setup this past weekend.

You can re-use the stock wiring, you will need to splice into them from the harness that leads out of the bose amp. Wires #13, 14, 15 & 16 lead to the front left and front right door speakers. Look at the FSM for the exact colors, and polarity.

If you want to use the stock bose amp with aftermarket speakers, you can. However the bose amp works best with 2 ohm speakers, and most afteramarket speakers are 4 ohm...in which case you will be getting half the power to them as you would to a 2 ohm speaker.

Thanks King! Thats what i was looking for. Although, after reading through the aduio section, Im leaning mroe towards just a front speaker swap.

I have these speakers in mind:

I have a friend who works there so the price should be ~40% off that.

Those seem like decent speakers. However, changing the amp to them will make a difference instead of using the stock Bose amp. A lot of the sound has to do with how good the signal is to the speakers.

Many have advised that you use a 1" MDF spacer as well, to bring the speaker close to the door cutout. I used a 1/2" MDF and it sounds decent to me.

Upgrade to stock Bose system

I replaced all the speakers in my G with Infinity Kappa's which are 2 ohm speakers (like the Blose) with crossovers. It sounds very good for a minimal amount of money. Of course it doesnt thump like a 3K to 5K system but it is 100 times better than stock.
Heres a link to what I put in.

It's just so frustrating (and somewhat embarassing) to know that a 05' Murano has a better sounding system.

I happen to love my stock Bose. It does the job, but to each his own!
