Lowered Springs?

I just had a question for the G35s lowered with lowering springs (not coilovers) and what they do in winter (if they drive it in areas with actual snow).

I am getting my rims (hopefully sometime soon; PM me Ted if you are reading; haha) and probably will not like the 4 by 4 look and am wondering if I can lower my car for summer with the springs and then change it out with the OEM springs for winter? I am not sure if this will work or if coilovers are the only solution. I still have my winter tires so I will probably use the G35 for winter duty again so I can't store the car.

Any suggestions or answers will be appreciated. Sorry again for my stupid questions; I think another year will be required before I have this vehicle figured out .

why don't you just get a set of winter wheels.. what does lowering it have to do with anything?

I do have winter wheels. Clearance is the issue. Stock height my front bumper scrapes the street in winter. Also with springs I am not sure if I will allow enough room for all the snow that gets stuck in the wheel wells to allow the wheel to move freely.

i'm lowered on stechs and DD this beast this past treacherous winter w/ no problems.. just gotta be alert. Plus i was more worried about sliding then scraping. even with VDC on in the winter, its still sometimes hard to manage.

Hmm good to hear you survived through it with lowered springs. Yeah the slipping is definately a concern. There were a couple days in winter I had no control of my vehicle and it felt like it was (probably was) just gliding.

One problem probably alot worse in Winnipeg is when we get hit with the -30C weather all the snow hardens up and the roads off the highways are never cleaned and are just compacted snow (also freezes all the snow in your tire wells) and ice. I doubt that aftermarket springs would give me the clearance to get through that or plow through fresh snow without pulling off my bumper or getting the car stuck.

This winter wasn't too bad in terms of snow; just TOO long.

It's way too much work to be changing out springs spring and fall. Get coilovers or just get a winter beater. There's a ton of winter beaters around in the peg and it would be so much easier on the car and with your driving.

Yeah I think that is probably the best thing to do then.
