Warning in Scarborough area
Warning in Scarborough area
Yesterday I was driving to Scarborough Town's Jack Asstor for dinner with my wife. And when I got to McCowan & Sheppard, an 89 Mustang (I believe that is the model year) was following me until the parking lots and it parked right behind me too...
From the rear mirror, I saw there are 2 females and the driver took a picture of my license plate.... At first, I thought she thought my license was funny. So I made sure the car is locked and off I went. Unfortunately, the wait for a table is about 30 minutes and we decided to go somewhere else...
When we were walking towards the car... the mustang is still here and it is blocking my car.... As the two females in the car noticed us... they slowly drove off and I was staring at them, by now, they took off quickly....
I don't know what they are up too... but it certainly didn't seems like they are appreciating my car and more like they find themselves a target car for steal.... and I wasn't feeling very comfortable with the whole thing...
I am certainly goanna to put a pager alarm in my car with all my stereo mods....
Just a word of caution if you are in the area....

Re: Warning in Scarborough area
Haha, that sounds strange. Might be a good idea to carry your own camera with you. Next time someone is acting suspicious, take some pics of them and their car too. That'll probably discourage any nonsense.

That's so strange, eh?
You would think that car thieves would be more subtle/ discreet and wouldn't park right behind you after following you into the lot... if I were a car thief scoping a car I would park further away...
Maybe one of them was considering buying a G coupe and they were just checking out your car? But then, why not just go to a dealership?
You didn't accidentally cut them off earlier or something..? Where they were waiting to key your car when you left or something stupid like that? But then... of course you would have remembered something like that.
A similar wierd thing happened to me today...
I was driving to my friend's house to watch Formula One at Imola today on SpeedVision...
...Anyway, a guy in a red Ford F150 followed me and drove in my blindspot for quite a long distance on the QEW. Then he took the same exit as me, and at the stoplight I was the first car stopped and he was in the next lane, but instead of pulling up beside me (as he could have) he stopped his truck in my blindspot (so that his front wheel was ~level with my rear wheel).
Then he turned down a sidestreet and disappeared. I figured either he was just checking out the car, or it was just a coincidence that he drove behind me all that way.
Just before I bought the G, I think I followed one or two (checking them out on the road) but only for relatively short distances.
Maybe Ford drivers have a secret thing for the G??

Re: Warning in Scarborough area
I don't think they're trying to steal your car, maybe just admiring the G. Maybe they were just taking picture of the beautiful G, not your license plate. (Unless you got a funny license plate number, or letters) But that doesn't make sense too becuz Agincourt inifniti is few meters away, and they got tons of Gs there. Anyhow, it is just weird why would they take picture of your plate... However, Scarborough has high car stolen rate, especially at the mccowan area, you should always watch out in that area anyways.

Hey subrobo,
Yes, very true what you've said ;-)
However after many years of driving a motorcycle (all through university), I have an ingrained habit of being aware of where everything is around me at all times, and when I drive I also assume that the other guy may suddenly do something unexpected (I suppose that's one of the basic tenets of defensive driving...)
So I was aware of him (which is what counts when someone is in my blindspot -- that is, he does not pose any direct danger to me, as long as I know he's there).
On the other hand, I would certainly avoid a situation where I drove in someone else's blindspot... since I then have no idea whether or not they know I'm there...
But I totally agree with you! I should have just smoked him until his Ford was just a tiny dot in my rearview! ;-)
