Friggin Disrespectful Neighbour!
#16
I know EXACTLY how you feel. This exact same thing happened, but my neighbour to my left is a house thats rented to 2 families + 1 person. I don't know they do their garbage, but the crows would always get to it. When this was happening in the fall, where its rainy season in vancouver, the wetness made it a total mess. It was filthy. I asked the 1 person and he said that it wasn't his garbage and I should talk to the other two families. I mentioned it to one of the families, and they seem to just shrug it off, not feeling sorry at all but said they'd look into it.
Next week, I see the garbage can has a piece of wood they wedged under the handle. Crows still got to it. I finally saw the landlord a few days later, and I mentioned this to him. Matter was finally solved a week later with a new garbage can.

Great story Wayne, any pics?

I am curious though, if he is a decent guy, why leave a note instead of speaking to him?
In my younger years I had many room mates and found that you get a totally different reaction from a note than you do if you confront someone face to face.
I don't know why, but notes tend to **** people off.
I do have this vision of his wife scolding him and saying "See. I told you!"

Inconsiderate Neighbors....?
Shane, apparently you have the situation solved for now. If like you say this
neighbor is a nice guy why didn't you have a talk with him about the trash
cans prior to filling his front door? Funny, he sent his wife out to pick up the
mess you left him. To embarrassed to stick his head out the door at that point! I had a situation where my neighbors daughter and her b/f moved back
for 6 months. They had 4 vehicles which the parked in front of my house. I
told the neighbor my house wasn't a storage area for their cars....they were
moved....and so did the neighbor! LOL

James/Gary, as to your question why I left a note instead of speaking to him directly......no real reason actually. I was ticked off yesterday morning with all of the garbage on my lawn, he was at work at the time, and I just decided to write a note. Speaking to him directly never even crossed my mind to be honest.
I don't associate with my neighbours very much (by choice) so maybe that's why I subconscienciously wrote the note instead of speaking to him directly. As long as he gets the hint, that's all that matters to me anyways.

People complain about Homeowner Associations, but I have no problem with them. We have an elderly man that I call "the garbage cop." He drives around and if your trash does not conform, he goes through it until he finds an address.
It is not uncommon to find your trash back in front of your door
