I drove both. The 370Z has no sound deadening and is loud as hell driving. I took it on the freeway and could barely hear the stereo over the road and engine. It was so much fun to drive though.

 

DO NOT I REPEAT...DO NOT go to the dealer for these parts. They will rape you.

I got mine from Riverside infiniti - just PM Rick@Riverside. They were about $15 each USD. Nice now that the dollar is back up to around 1.085.

 

Sorry man...most likely if they are rubbing already, they need to be replaced. The dealer charged me 50 bucks a side to install them. I bought them from Riverside Infiniti.

 

Apparently, mine is suffering from bent hinges as well.
Took it to the dealership and he was saying it was a very expensive repair and not covered by warranty.

elrooko - what was the total damage for yours? $100? Was that the total cost?

so wait, how do you know if theyre bent? i did notice though that when i move my hood that the passenger hinge kinda sticks a bit and doesnt move easily. at that point does that mean theyre shot?

 

You can literally hear it popping or clicking when you lift it all the way up - BUT you want to AVOID that.

Essentially, have someone slowly open the hood from the front as you normally would. You stand by your windshield and watch as the hood is raised. While its coming up, you should be able to eyeball the corners of the hood and the fender and see if there is any contact.

Another tell tale sign is paint being chipped off from your fender at the corner by your windshield. That means its already rubbed and chipped your paint.
