Worth getting 3M clear bra at dealer?
Worth getting 3M clear bra at dealer?
Hi all, I am finally going to be picking up my G35X premium sedan this week. I was looking through the folder that the dealer gave me of the installable options. It lists a 3M clear bra option for $299, not sure if it includes labour. Does is sound like a reasonable price? What are others paying for it to be installed aftermarket?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Worth getting 3M clear bra at dealer?
I got my coupe April 7th at Agincourt. They quoted $299 for the clear bra (3M Chip Guard, including labour)... I offered $250 and they accepted. Actually on the final sales agreement it is written as $248.00 for some reason.
I asked for bumper, lower hood, headlights, part of fenders and sideview mirrors. They did these areas and I noticed they also did a small area on the lower rear quarter panel ahead of the wheels.

I got my G at Agincourt as well. So it was $250 flat? That includes the installation right? Did you go through your sales rep or Lisa? I have to call her to get my VIN and confirm if I wanted any of the options.

The rear quarter are from factory!
We sell the 3M stuff here for $249 installed! That includes the front lower hood, front fenders.

Through Lisa. It was $248.00 flat including installation.
Ask that they do the sideview mirrors too.

Re: Worth getting 3M clear bra at dealer?
Great thanks, I'll give her a call tomorrow. How do you like it, any problems with washing or waxing the car with the car bra?
Re: Worth getting 3M clear bra at dealer?
I'm not crazy about the visible line across the hood but I figure it's the lesser of two evils. The payoff will come as the car gets older, when a bunch of stone chips would look much worse than that subtle line.
Washing over it hasn't been a problem for me at all, and apparently waxing over it isn't either according to some more experienced people here. Just move your hand in a direction away from the bra when passing over the seam.

they all come with that part ahead of the wheels.
the hood etc. i figured better to have the dealer do rather than have them try to blame damage on someone else. you know how they are, if paint damage occurts in future they will blame the installation.
the slightly visible line is not as bad as the chips that would happen otherwise. the clear balr is a good idea.

Ditto
Mark at Chipguard; super job.
He does a lot of dealer work. Go direct & save the dealer markup!
He also has a Barrie shop.
Also;
I'm in the process of getting Mark to do my console.
