You haven't told us what you are driving or what your problem is.

well... i had a manual '05 coupe and i never had any oil burning problems either. it was most likely a problem with a supplier giving out faulty batches of parts. i don't think the problem is as widespread as the forums make it seem.

Yes, I just had my motor replaced. It was going through a litre of oil every 1000km. Ericksen Infiniti in Edmonton replaced the motor after I failed 2 oil consumption tests. Had no hassles from the dealership at all, they where great to deal with through the process.

I think that's right too. We have a lot of members on here we don't hear or read of too many problems.

Ressurected

If all goes well, I may finally officially be joining the club after months (years) of lurking.
The car I'm eyeing has 85KMs on it. I've test driven the car and all seemed well and fine. I asked the previous owner if he was aware of any OC issues and he told me no; clearly the answer I expected anyways...

Im in a position where I can afford the car; but can't afford a new block if things go sour once I take ownership.

To my understanding, the warranty is 6 yrs and 70,000 miles. In Canadian numbers, I'm guessing its 6 yrs and 110,000 KMs.

My question is, would the G35 I'm thinking about buying still be under warranty? When does the 6yrs begin and end?. Has anyone in the GTA had their block replaced under warranty? which dealership did you go to? how was your dealing with the service manager?

Thanks in advance

I've had my car back for about 2 weeks now after getting a new short block replaced. Besides some funky smells which have been slowly going away and a weird cricket sound coming from the engine, she runs good. They tried to up sell me a clutch for $800(just the part no labour), telling me it was at 20% and they were just about to put the motor back in so they needed an answer right away. Why didn't they tell me after they took the engine out? I said no because a buddy of mine who owns his own shop could do the job for that price, so no need to make hasty decisions. That's something to think about though if your car has high mileage and you qualify for short block replacement. My car - 2005 6mt 86,000 kms.

I have had 2 Oil consumption tests, one at 1000, the second one at 2500 km ... the first once was only 3 points down they said ( i thought it was more) and the second test was less than half the oil remaining so they filled it up again and asked me to come back after another 2500 km.

So once that is done, i will know if they will change the engine or not ! Mine is still under power-train but no bumper to bumper.
