Silly winter tires question

This is my second car. It will be my first car with a dedicated set of winter tires. My silly question is this ... do I mount my winter tires on my regular rims? Or do I get new dedicated winter rims for the winter tires?
I understand there is a pressure sensor and potentially a balancing issue, how is this addressed?
How much does something like this cost?

Since its an X, the other option I was considering was simply getting a new set of all seasons ... but that seemed self defeating.

Input is appreciated ... I don't mind the sniggers and smart comments either always entertaining from you lot!

I would definitely pick up a dedicated set of winter wheels. You don't want to use your good wheels in the salt and sand during the winter and plus it makes it a breeze to change in the spring and fall.

Definitely nicer to have two sets if you can swing it.

Considering you could probably buy a set of used 17" wheels (G/Z etc) for $200 or so, it's well worth it to have a dedicated set of tires and wheels. You will spend that much in a few seasons of asking the tire place to swap them.

It is always best to have a complete set of rims and tires for winter. Less hassle, don't worry about marking up your rims during changeover and just the one shot cost of the initial purchase.
Most guys don't worry about the tire pressure sensors, you can keep them in your stock wheels.

??
http://denver.craigslist.org/search/...min&maxAsk=max

That's only a quick look today. Looks like they are there if you're patient.

Even that deal is good. Just sell the two good ones for $75-$100. Then your set is like $225-$250 if you don't haggle.

I bet you could pick that up for $300 easy. Maybe $275

I agree, it is not the ideal size for winter, you want the largest sidewall you can get, and also 17 wheels and tires are normally much cheaper than 19s.
