2006 projector retrofit DIY for Canadian Spec vehicles
Hey all. I finally finished this. I took high res photos for each step so the total file is about 50 MEG. I'm hosting it up on my website so if anyone can setup a mirror site, please do so.
All in all, this is about a 5 out of 10 on the hard-o-meter. Have a look see and let me know what you think.

I forget teh part number but I got the relays from Canadian Tire, and it matched relays for their command start kits. It comes with the harness. They were about $15 each if I remember correctly.

I just bought an '04 coupe a few days ago with the '06 lights on there. The left turn signal is flashing the DRL instead of the signal double speed like a burnt bulb, everything else works fine. Is this the grounding issue mentioned in the guide or just a bulb? Also, if it is the grounding issue do I need to go through the full process there with the all relays and such? I've not had a chance to look at what they've done in there yet, I was hoping to narrow down the problem so I can fix it up this weekend with out too much trial and error. Thanks!

Hey all,
I'm definately not an expert on headlights and I have a question-
I have a 05 Coupe and I'm looking to upgrade to 06/07 headlamps...
I have found some cheap 06 headlight housings (post recall, no ballasts or bulbs, from a canadian car) and I am wondering what is needed to make it work on my car (do I need to buy new ballasts/bulbs, or is it plug and play with what I've got).
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Great writeup Elrooko.
Has anyone else tried to simply plug in stock/unmodded US projectors into their canadian cars without any changes? I met with one body shop that rebuilds G35's and he said that his only issue was a faster blinking driver side blinker, and that he didn't see any other issue. IF this is really the only difference, then I may consider not modding the US headlamp at all.

If you run US Projectors un-modified....
1) one of the city lights (168/194 Wedge bulbs) will be half as bright as the other (from memory, I believe it is the driver side)
2) one of the turn signals (7440 bulb) will be half as bright (and as a result may blink like a turn signal bulb is burnt out)
3) there will be no DRL
In addition, the relay for the bi-xenon projectors may toggle on-and-off since when the head-lights are turned-off and the parking brake dis-engaged, the high-beam voltage will be at approximately 6V. Note that I never tested that this toggling would occur... so depending on the switching voltage of the bi-xenon relay, you may not experience it.

Big Thanks! I checked the bulb and that wasn't it, so I went ahead with the DIY. Worked like a charm. The harnesses that I found had shorter leads so I routed the wires a bit differently. Also, my lights had that screw for the ground on the HID so I took a picture of that part too for reference.
