Now you need to check in at the dealer and fill him in on the issue so that they may do a proper consumption check for you.

If consumption is excessive, you may have a warranty claim.

G/L and keep us posted.

Colin.
As far as I know the vehicle is out of warranty and the dealership is a five hour drive. Do I have any recourse?

Not if you're out of warranty....Pity.....
Sounds like the previous owner missed the boat.

If you're warranty is done, you'll have to watch the level yourself carefully for some idea of consumption.

Do you have the service info from the previous owner?
If there was a previous record of service for an oil consumption issue, and with mileage at now 108K.
There may be a case

Sometimes, you can get a split cost resolution if you're just out of warranty.
It's tough with the dealer so far away though...

You should not be out of warranty yet since the powertrain coverage is 6 years and 110,000 km

Good points, Ian & Deane.....P/train warranty goes until 110k (6yrs) so you should be within the coverage period.

...And as Ian points out, there may have been some previous record of this issue that you may proceed with.

Sounds like at least a phone call and even a visit to the dealer would pay off.

Best of luck
Colin.
