Compression rods shot!

Both sides are confirmed shot, the clunking noise drives me nuts, does anyone have any spare parts? or should I just get them at the stealership at over $300 a piece, any suggestions, thanks guys.

I think you can order them from Tony at Riverside for $248 (USD) for the Pair plus shipping here.

I was just told that mine need to be replace again.

Crap! again! This isn't a cheap repair, I had complained about the rods at about 109k right before my warranty ran out, they said it was nothing but I got a work order on it, I recently went back to the dealer & they said the compression rods are only covered up until 100k & they could not fix it under warranty, was worth a try though.

yeah, too bad you couldn't get them covered. Comprehensive warranty is only 100k 4 years with the power train going 110k 6 years.

Here's a link that you may find interesting.
https://g35driver.com/forums/canada/...ump-klump.html
I had my first c rod replaced at 110 for $200 at the stealership. Then my other on at Simone Performance for a reasonable price including an allignment

IIRC, the stealership charges bout 6 bills a side. ( not a full allignment )
There is other info. on the board. Try a search, it's a job a competent shop should be able to do.

Is there anyway to know if your compression rods are on there way out? My G is taking a crap all over me (power windows not working, rough starts) so I am expecting the worst now for everything.

^ good advice Sam.
IIRC the bushing kit that is now available is quite a bit less expensive.
Unless the bushing has deteriorated to the point that the c rod is damaged, it's all that's really needed.

Dealers are used to replacing the complete c rod for this issue.
The B.kit is a more recent development and they may not be aware of it.
(or just prefer to charge the extra $ for new c. rods)

Can I purchase the bushings seperately? I was told that the bushing is part of the compression rod.

That's the same or less than dealers pay for the parts.

And I heard the 3.5L in the G is one of the world's ten best engines. Are they talking about reliability or performance? The more I read on these boards the more horror stories I hear.
