Squeeeeeeeeeellllll ing

For the last three days, when I start the G it squeals. If I give her a little gas the squeal increases with the rev's. It only lasts for a few seconds and then all is well. I had all my belts replaced 6 000k ago. My driveway is fairly steep, if that could be relevant. This only happens upon the first start up of the day.
I've got 137 000 km. on my beauty. Waterpump? All thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Could it possibly be so simple. Hope so. Thanks, I'll give it a try on the weekend.
BTW. Is this a DIY? or should I take it to a mechanic?

Yep...belts are loose. Mine did the same after I had them replaced. Vic just re-tightned them and no problems since.

No need to loose any hair over it

It's a long drive to Vic for me.

Loose hair, can't find any to loose. I'd be squealing higher than the G.

Thanks for the fix guys.

While I know you and Ian did excellent work on your chin, and I trust you two Old Farts, I don't know if staples will hold for that particular Coiff. Harpo's style looks great on Ian and certainly on you ( mostly because of your winning smile ). I might consider if the three of us each had our own. My Facial Hair might clash.

Hmmmmmmm, Hallowe'en springs to mind. If that's too late, we might consider Devil's Night.

Should I take the G into a shop to have the belts tightened? Mine's been getting worse since I had my new VQ installed, new belts and all... or is it something I can do myself?

I took it to a Nissan dealership and they did it for 50 bucks.

If it's a new "VQ" install, then the installer (dealer) shouldn't mind re-tightening the belts due to normal expansion. For him it would take all of 5 minutes on his hoist.

The job isn't tough but you do need to know where to look (from underneath up to the tensioners) and how much to tighten them.

.....and no you shouldn't need new belts, but again that should be evident by inspection.

Colin.

Yeah I figured they dealer could do it for me since they installed the new VQ recently. My issue is that they're like 100 miles away. Wonder if another dealer would do it for free since it was a warranty repair.
