National Do not Call List
just to tell u guys something for the law as i work at a bank. you can not stop banks calling you if u still have existing accounts with them. so legally they have the right to call you for offers and opportunities, since you have a business realtion with them. but if u dont want any solicitation at all, you have to call your institution.

from an article by columnist Michele Mandel on Thursday September 18:
Quoted by U. of Ottawa law prof. Michael Geist:
"...........there's so many exemptions to the DNC list.
After much lobbying, registered charities, political parties (my personal favourite
), opinion polling firms, newspapers, and, as has been said, any organization we've done business with in the last 18 months (which can be blocked by us contacting them directly)."
Geist's answer to this is to log into:
http://www.ioptout.ca/
to register for opting out of the exemptions.....
It's another step, but maybe with this tool ( iOptOut.ca) we can find some peace and quiet at supper time and other special times.....
I haven't registered there yet but I will ----
Colin.

I hope this works.....

Even those that call that you do business with, if you don't want anymore calls from them you just have to tell them. Apparently they are obligated to remove you from their call lists. I've been getting numerous calls from Rogers Homephone, I ask them why would I give you more business when the cable service s*cks? At least now one can request to be removed from the call list, peace at last!

IDK how others are finding this, but we are getting FAR fewer calls now at home.
I just added my cell to this DNC list because I continually get a voice msg....
"this is you xth notice that your factory car warranty is about to expire... yada, yada, yada."
1st time caught me off guard & called back.
I asked which car?
- they said "your car"
