National Do not Call List
Effective September 30th you will be able to register for this list to prevent telemarketers from calling you. They have 31 days to update their lists. Also there are exceptions such as charities, research co's, newspaper subscriptions etc.
For more info go to the web site or call:
Canadians will be able to add their land line, cell or fax numbers on the national do-not-call list online at www.LNNTE-DNCL.gc.ca or by calling 1-866-580-DNCL (3625). For TTY service only (for the hearing impaired), the toll-free number will be 1-888-DNCL-TTY (1-888-362-5889).

^you're welcome Craig. I'll be doing the same. I'm curious about how it works with foreign (US) companies. A lot of those stupid credit card recorded calls come from there.
Excellent, thanks Deane.
That number Shane posted months ago has worked for us, we have only recieved calls from a couple of telemarketers since. It eliminated 90% of our harassing calls.

The only calls we get are from charities that Karen has donated to in the past, no others.

It's going to be so nice not getting most of those bothersome calls..
Colin.
There was a stat that suggested nearly 2/3rds (two thirds) of Canadians plan on signing up for this service.
This will dramatically impact the outbound calling industry, so it will be interesting to see how things develop.
On the fliside, it will be nice to finally get through a meal at home without the phone ringing and someone in "Zanzibar" trying to sell me windows.

Thanks for the heads up. I doubt this will stop my annoying calls; all from Rogers (when I pick it up I get a message telling me to stay on the line) and people telling me I won a million dollars but I need to dial a 1-900 number to claim it

BOSS!.. I refuse to answer my parents home phone, its 98% soliciters. I keep telling them to stop entering those stupid free vacation contests.. But theyre retired so what can you do lol.
