Same here Wayne...We are in Waterloo as you know, and when Pam and I went to the polls there where only about 4 other people there voting. Mind you it was on my lunch break but I expected to see more people than that.
It's very disappointing indeed.

I can't vote, I'm out of the country.

But even if I was here, I wouldn't vote. I feel that none of the candidates are qualified to have such a big responsibility of our country. I rather leave it to be, and let fate decide.

i drove through an hour and a half's worth of rush hour traffic to vote.

few people had expected the bloc to do so well this round, but the cons really pissed people off here, as for their legitimacy, i have a feeling harper and co will probably do more to destroy canada than the bloc will....

and as far as not liking any of the candidates, vote for one of the fringe parties, if available, give 'em some encouragement, we may have more diverisity here than the states, but encouraging the small parties will only help increase it

Purely the arts thing, or other policies? Good for you for voting!

i think the arts thing was what got the most publicized outrage, and made people wary of the conservatives, the arts are a big industry here, i even have friends who have lost jobs because of the cuts. i don't think it was the single reason, but it made people wake up a bit.

I don't see how anyone with two brain cells to rub together can idolize Bush, I think you're way off on that one, XX. Republicans and conservatives will of course have similar policies since they are both far to the right.

That's a real stretch.
Even the liberals or NDP wouldn't think he "idolizes" Bush. They want to associate his leadership and policies with him because they hoped it would be to their advantage.

Here's what I can say about the Conservatives...

1. They maintain fiscal responsibility.
2. They have reduced personal taxes.
3. They have sheltered us from the US economic melt-down.

You should educate yourself on the issues/platforms instead of throwing mud like it's 3rd grade recess.

Exactly.

Strategic alignment of foreign policies with our largest trading partner is just good business.

To call it idolization is juvenile.

After having watched a few parliament meetings, I can say that Harper has problems dealing with a few issues, he should especially becareful of what comes out of his mouth as the other members of the parliments like to use it against him.
Comparing this to the previous PM Jean Chrietien (sp?), Harper is much more inefficient.

However, this is a heated issue for everyone, I have nothing more to say as I know I will offend someone.

There isn't a previous leader or a current party leader that hasn't had issues with what comes out of their mouths. In that regard looking at it objectively I wouldn't say Harper has any more or less issues than the rest including your reference to Jean Chretien. They all need to mean what they say and say what they mean or the other parties, the public and the media use it against them. Harper is as bad as the rest of them.

It's evident you're against the PC party given your earlier reference to them and your statement that Harper "idolizes" Bush. I just haven't read any facts to back up any of this.

+1

The "I don't like Harper" argument holds zero credibility when the real issue at hand is policy and execution of policy.

Someone who is anti-PC explain to me what's wrong with Harper's policies and track record, and I'll listen. Talk about how you don't like his haircut or way he speaks, and I'll hold up a big picture of Dion for you to ponder while the rest of the big-boys talk about the real issues...
