the results? no
the distribution of seats? yes
- didn't expect Liberals to tank so badly in Ontario
- thought PCs would do better in PQ ....but Harper screwed that up with his funding cut for the Arts.

The turn out?
...sad to see it getting so low.
People don't realize what a priviledge it is to have a vote.

The low turnout really pisses me off. The newspaper this morning quoted some thinktank as saying it's 'voter fatigue'. In Alberta, they've had to vote 3 times in the past 4.5 years. Gimme a freaking break, you can't get off your azz for 10 minutes LESS than once a year to exercise your democratic right? Then GTFO and live somewhere that you CAN'T vote. They were interviewing some bimbo at the U of Calgary, sitting in the pub drinking her Liberal-red drink beside her Greens-green bimbo buddy and she was asked 'why don't the young people vote?" "Students aren't apathetic (big word for her) they are BUSY!" Doing WHAT? Drinking? Fawksakes, grow up and above all if you don't vote, then STFU with your b1tching about high tuition and "the government" not taking care of them or taking care of the environment.

I'm also ripped that the BQ can even be a party, WTF is wrong with a system that allows a party whose sole mission is to break apart the country. And they WIN 50 SEATS preventing one or the other real party from forming a majority that could actually get something done! Maybe all the non-voters should move to Quebec and they can all GTFO and not vote because there's no need, and they can just be their own happy little society. Let them sovereignty-associate with effing North Korea for all I care.

Wow, apparently I got a bit of a raw nerve there.

My wife and I were discussing the voter turn out and we wondered how many people actually viewed the election coverage on TV last night. It's sad that more people care about the US election campaign than the Canadian one.

We are given a right to vote and people just don't care. I don't get it. I hate to hear people that complain about the government and stuff, but don't vote. Hello, you have a complaint, do something about it!!

It's not voter fatigue. It's voter apathy. That's scary when people don't care about their country.

We had the election coverage on also last night.

When Karen and I went to cast our votes, we were amazed that there was no line-up, heck we were the only ones there . We went just before lunch.
Deane's right, I just don't think people give a shiznitt .

Heard that voter turnout was 59% nationally......Not a good #, tho I'd like to think that most here made the effort.....

^We were out. My neighbour two doors down is our returning lib MP and son of our late former premier.

Lots of liberal signs around here. Everybody else was probably too nice to put up anything else.

I never miss a vote. As for the BQ the party should be forced to disband. It steals valuable seats. Although the haven't pushed separatism as of late. It has no value within the Canadian Political system. Feel free to disagree. I won't listen.

I can't wait to vote! I seriously don't know why people can't take 10 or so minutes of their time to vote. Seesh.

So tell me something, those in Toronto. Why 21 Liberal seats? IMO Dion is a naive clown, I can't imagine how anyone would think he'd make a good leader. It has to be based on policy, then...??? Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of ANY politician, but it seems very unusual to have this big area of red in the South of Ontario. Help me understand.

heh... if i knew i would tell u. it's getting to the point that it doesn't even matter if i register my vote or not... it always comes up as a liberal land slide in my riding anyways. it's like a highschool vote where everyone votes for their buddy, instead of voting for what matters most. i've got borys wrzesnewskyj in my riding... what a complete douche and joke. why anyone would vote for him is beyond me. to be perfectly honest, i didn't see a single party that stood out to me over these elections anyways.

It's the same here in Alberta, only with the Conservatives. They only missed a complete sweep of the entire province by ONE SEAT and that was a close one. Seems very much a herd mentality despite most of the herd staying away. The Tory in my riding (Jason Kenney, who I think is probably a real d1ck) got 75% of the vote and he is never here. A lot of people are citing 'nobody I wanted to vote for' as their reason not to vote, along with 'oh well the Tories will win anyway, my vote won't make a difference.' Well if the other 60% had voted, and voted differently, it certainly would make a difference. The logic escapes me, but perhaps I'm looking for it in the wrong place.

I just found it interesting that while some of Ontario shifted to the blue, Tronna stayed very red. Made me wonder what's unique about the prevailing sentiment in that area.

My riding is always between liberal and ndp with conservatives a distant third. My neighbour two doors down is the returning liberal MP. It's pretty funny how every third house in the whole neigbourhood has a liberal sign and there are absolutely none from the other party. I think people are being nice.

Provincially it's almost always NDP in my riding.

I have to admit that there are a lot of things I liked and disliked about each party - I find that I'm often defaulting to whether or not I think the individual MP is doing a good job or working hard to represent his/her constituents. Rona Ambrose is my MP and she crushed the competition. Not overly surprised about Rahim Jaffer losing his seat here in Edmonton to Linda Duncan of the NDP. She basically campaigned over 2 years and worked her butt off. I understand that a lot of conservatives in that riding offered her their votes as a result of her efforts vs. the lack of effort by the incumbent, who also has a bit of rep on the Ottawa party scene....
