So I bought a free-to-air receiver..
Finally bought me one of these free to air boxes, its a Sonicview I was told by a few friends that these are the best ones to get. Any of you guys using these receivers? I'm using the company that starts with a B for my satelite but I was told there is no script available yet. Any good web sites I can go to for my fixes?

Often wondered about FTA.... especially when the cable bill arrives.
If I didn't feel like I was getting raped, I wouldn't even consider it.
My biggest concern is how often do you get zapped?
It would be a big PITA to constantly look for new bins.
I'd be really pi$$ed if I got zapped in the middle of the Stanley cup finals or the Super Bowl etc, etc...

I just got the Sonicview SV360 Elite a few weeks ago. I've been using ftatalk.com for my files. You need to sign up but it's free.
About BEV, I don't believe it is possible to watch it right now. They are changing encryption right now so most, if not all, channels are down.

I have the Sonicview HD8000, HD channels are great but not sure if it was worth the extra $ for the receiver. Depends how much TV you watch I guess. Now is the worst time to think about getting it. B has begun to switch a lot of channles to Nagra 3 encryption and a ton of channels are now down. The US counterpart is said to be making the switch very soon as well. Who knows how long it would take before it is 'figured' out.
Ian, it doesn't go down too often. Also if you have a setup with different heads, you can always switch to a different satallite. But as for now, holdoff until someone can figure out the Nagra 3 encryption.

BEV is down I've read all about it, DN is still working as well as DIk I'll just have to point my dish in the other direction for now. Like Ian said if you can't stand going back and forth getting updated bin files don't bother with this stuff it is a bit of a PITA but I see it as a small challenge, also DO NOT cancel your cable or Satelite subscription because when it does go down you will be stuck with nothing. Mine cost me $130. so its not like I'm losing my shirt on this however I do feel sorry for the guys who dished out $380.+ for the HD boxes. These will go up again (BEV) it will just take some time.
