Unhappy I feel really STUPID: Changing tire help

I've got an 04 coupe with the OEM 19" wheels. I purchased a set of winter tires on steels from a family member who also had the same model/year and were used on her car before she sold it.

It's the same 5 bolt pattern but what the hell is the 6th bolt for? It's shorter than the others but isn't a 'screw'

I feel insanely stupid for not knowing this but having cars that only sat on steels/hubcaps all my life prior to my G........I don't know who else to ask.

The steel wheels i'm putting on does not allow me to mount the wheel on properly.

HELP??!?!?!!!

Damn I should have taken a picture of it before I mounted my OEM wheel back on

Sounds like the bolt that prevents rotating the rear tires to the front on your coupe. I think you just remove it to mount your Winter wheels.

Don't feel bad, I think it's a little taped thingy which ensures that we mount our unidirectional tires in the right place. You should be able to unscrew it and then mount the steelies. Save it or mark your tires when you remove them.

If your talking about the small bolt on your hub it is perfectly fine to remove it.

What Gordgee said...the wheels are a staggered set up.
