New G35X Owner in Calgary
New G35X Owner in Calgary
Hi everyone, I've been creeping on this site for some time, but this is one of my first times posting on here. I ended up picking up a 2007 G35X with prem /nav/tech packages from Vancouver a couple of weeks ago and just got the out of province inspections taken care of earlier this week.
I absolutely love the car, driving it back to Calgary was a blast through the Rockies...passing other cars was a joke, pressing the accelerator just a lil let me fly by the other cars. Only drawback was the fuel economy, the car seems to be a lil heavy on gas. From my experiences with my Mitsubishi 3000GT, adding an intake helped out with the fuel economy quite a bit, has anyone experienced anything similar with the G?
I also noticed a couple of things on my G that I had to take it into the dealer for, such as:
-windshield washer fluid nozzles spray very weak and only 2/3 nozzles actually spray
-when the temperature dropped down (hasn’t even dropped that low yet) the navigation screen failed to turn on on 4 different occasions, turned on once the car warmed up and was restarted. Has this happened to anyone before??
-during the out of province inspection, one of the rear tail light LEDs failed to "light up." The mechanic showed me and I saw it first hand, but when I looked today it lit up.
-chrome grill is pitted and chipped really bad
I went into the dealership had them check out the issues, they told me I need to make an appointment to have anything checked out. When I asked they come out and take a look at the car (particularly the pitting) the guy informed me that the grill replacement is at the dealerships own “good will” available only to original owners, does anyone know any differently? The car is a Vancouver car, with minimal/no rock chips on the front bumper and hood, but the grill is pitted to sh*t.
The car is getting dropped off in about 2 weeks, I’ll keep everyone updated....sorry for typing up a novel.
I look forward to meeting all the local members!!
Jack

Congratulations on your X and welcome to the forum.
As to the grill pitting, my Dealer replaced mine as have many others, but, a few people have been hassled and theirs weren't replaced. I know a few of the guys have complained about the Calgary Dealer (Hyatts, I think it was)

Welcome, Jack and congrats on the purchase of the 'X'....Great ride.
I see you found your way to the Western Registry where you'll find many more happy Canucks in the west......
Let us know how you do at the dealership with the pitted grill issue.
They should be familiar with the issue.
Cheers
Colin.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome guys!! I will keep everyone updated on what develops with the dealership (it is Hyatt that I'm dealing with), so far the grill doesn't look too promising, as the service guy claimed its only offered to original owners. I will give it another go when I go drop the car off to get the Navi screen looked at.
SwivelHips, I am in the Riverbend area just a couple of minutes from the Calgary Auto Mall. Which area of Calgary are you in?
