Boxing Day Bonanza..

So who went out shopping..??

I wanted to go to Futureshop & BB.. but i couldn't justify standing out in the cold around 5am.

Went around 1pm to futureshop, and still picked up some good deals..

Wireless N router for 39$

What did you end up buying... or did you just stay home??

Stopped in at Costco b4 a visit in Preston on Boxing day, and quickly gave up.
If the store was as bad as the parking lot, it would have been sheer madness.

Kept my sanity and went for the visit and then home.

Stayed home. There are some deals out there but no where near enough to endure the waits and the crowds. Besides we don't really need anything.

Got the only deal I was looking for prior to Christmas, Yamaha YSP-900 sound bar and sub for $498 (reg $1098) at Soundsaround. Nothing else was sufficiently compelling to lure me out, besides you could order BD deals from Future Slop or Worst Buy on Christmas Eve, if you didn't need to have it Boxing Day.

I stayed home on BD, but went out on Saturday to investigate, then bought some new fronts and center channel for about 35% off retail. When I went in to the shop, I was out in 5 minutes with the van loaded up. Worked out quite well.
Speaking of specials, Nissan/Infiniti dealership in Guelph has a G prominently displayed (as in see it from the road) with '$10,000 OFF' painted on the windows. Don't know the real deal about it, but it looks like the clearance efforts have commenced.

Nothing from any local stores; the deals really sucked this year IMO. I did get some new camera gear though:

Tamron 17-50 mm f2.8 from cameracanada.com
Vivitar 285 HV Flash from bhphoto.com
Poverty wizards from Gadgetinfinity.com

The 32 inch Sony TV for 399 at Visions was a bit tempting though but it was 720p.

like last year i did my shopping online on 24th at night from best buy. I got a sony projector svga for $350.(was around 500-700 in market) besides, the deals were mainly on plasma and lcd tvs.

i dunno, the economy is doing bad, people are not spending as they used to be, and futureshop and bestbuy using their monopoly, doing nothing about it. they know canadians do not have other alternatives when it comes to tech stuff.

besides the deals were worst than ever.i am guessing there will be better deals at the end of january and beginning of february since a lot of places will have extra in their warehouse.

in terms of gps there were 2-3 deals but nothing spectacular.pioneer has a lcd for cars around 400 bucks, seemed nice deal but no gps.
