Last winter I had the burning rubber smell too, but only on cold start ups. After a couple of minutes the smell was gone. I don't remember smelling it while driving. The car wasn't driven this winter, so not sure if I still have the smell.

If that was the case, there would be a lot more people with the issue.

Burning smells are usually fairly distinct.
Electrical overheating/burning smells very different that belts/rubber.
I know it's hard to explain a smell, but that would help.
Is it intermitten or do you just notice it more?

Has the car actually been inspected?
A plastic bag caught on the exhaust is a common 'burning smell' issue.
IDK what else...... maybe something loose rubbing?
I took it to Dixie Infiniti and they couldn't find anything, no plastic bags, also though it might be the heater on the floor mats but nope. So i had the cabin air filter changed, and it went away for about a week or so, but now it has come back. At idle you notice it after a lengthy drive. Glad to know I am not the only one..... didn't notice it in the summer, only winter. Definitely not a winter car.

Mine does it, too, rubber/oily smell, only in winter, and when the roads are wet. I honestly think it is the road salt burning off the exhaust. I wouldn't have expected that kind of smell, but hearing your stories, sounds exactly the same.

The smell is from the Krown rust proofing, I have the same thing. The overspray onto the components that get heated and you get that smell into the cabin of your car.

I have the same burning smell in my '05 6MT sedan. It only happens during the winter and after driving on wet (snow covered) roads. It smell like burning rubber.
There is also a thread on the G35Sedan forum where many experienced this aroma.

This is the first winter that I've noticed the smell as well. Sort of a burning rubber or insulation type smell.

Thought it was a bag on the exhaust, but none that I saw. Bad for a couple of weeks about a month ago, but became intermittent settled down several weeks ago. Sure would be nice to figure out what it is.

I get it in my winter bester when I drive through puddles or mounds of snow (I dislike my beater) I've chalked it up to the drastic cold connecting with what's warm (likely the belts or hoses) with whatever nasty gunk has built up. expanding and contracting rubber can be a puta

My 07x stinks rotten when I park in the garage after a "spirited" drive on the snow. I was thinking it may be awd clutch since it's a clutchy/electronic smell. Never notice it except after driving on the slippery with the slip light winking away.

I have it too, I'm pretty sure it's from the tires, I only get it in winter when it snows or rains, I'm assuming cause we're rwd, we get a lot of slip and tires start to burn.....
