Stillen Gen2 is out of the door...
Stillen Gen2 is out of the door...
So now the Stillen Exhaust(gen2) supposedly meant for my sedan is GONE!!!
I sold it and couldn't be happier!
I added a couple of bills and built a custom one at Hot Rod Scott's...
2x2.25" Y pipe going into a 2.5" single. 3 straight through resonators and 2.5" single in / dual out muffler.
The car sounds tamed at the lower RPM range and screams anywhere over 3500 and I feel like I finally got my money's worth.
Just a couple of days ago I was reading a thread from a guy trying to decide on the exhaust setup and asking what is the best piping setup and so on... Anyways I was thinking to go into 2.75" or even 3" single for my N/A setup, but Scott didn't let me and I had to trust his expertise, especially coming from 2x2.5 dual setup = overkill = loss of torque = loud = vibration = rattling plastic = hurt ears....... you get the point.
The best part I DID NOT loose any power and GAINED loads of torque at low range.
So if have not done anything to your exhaust yet and are reading up on what to get or which kit to purchase I hope this helps. I spent twice the price of what it could have cost me to build what I really was going for.
Keep in mind that we are all different and what is noise to me may be music to another, but the point is you never know what you will get until you try it. Doing it custom lets you to try it before you buy it.

me?? no, i never did one from completly stock so i would never know true gains/loses. every car is abit different when it comes to dyno readings. 2 exact same cars could go on the same dyno and one will probley make more more than the other. like a 1-3whp difference....
Now somebody buy MY Stillen! (okay, it's not mine, I'm selling it for a friend)

Can't wait to see/hear the results, Stan!

Just for reference, I'm on a dual exhaust from Borla. 2.25" each from the cats to a magnaflow resonated X section to dual resonators and into a 2 in / 2 out borla muffler.
Gained some welcomed low end torque back with the X pipe added. IMHO, Borla is one of the few that uses 2.25" pipe in the dual exhaust systems. As noted, Stillen uses 2.5" pipe. Which with the stock cats, might not be ideal.

And Stillen happened to be always there in my ear... It may sound different for SC/TC setups. After all it was built with SC/TC in mind
