What mods can Yorkville do?
Re: What mods can Yorkville do?
In regards to many of the NON warrantable items, these are things that tamper with the ENGINE internals IE Turbo, Supercharger, NOS... BTW Stillen warranties their products for the basis of the factory warranty. So this is some serious coverage on their part.
However we will do simple things, exhaust, suspension, CAI, Ground - Hypervoltage systems...body kits etc etc...
Under the waranty guideline as listed in their Infiniti warranty information booklet.
"4. The use of replacement parts which are inferior to genuine INFINITI parts may reduce the operational effectiveness and performance of your INFINITI" - so in essence they are saying if its NOT Infiniti IT's not warranty, even if the part you install increases the performance. But most dealers just tend to stay away from ANY mods, they simply do not want the hassle.
I don't mind as I am an enthusiast myself so hence the simple mods we do here, these items do not harm the car, n or void the warranty.
If you have any questions as to the warranty in regards to performance parts you can always email me at jliu@dfcauto.com

duhprez, can I ask a newbie question? How does a hyper ground kit and a hyper voltage kit differ? I get the grounding concept, so does a hyper voltage just give more juice? (like an MSD kit or something? better ignition wires, etc?)

H.V.S. is to help your car take full advantage of your vehicle's electrical system working in tandem with a Hyper Ground System. This device acts like a capacitor, except that it is used for performance rather than for audio applications. It's function is to stabilize the voltage of the battery and is most effective when the battery is under a heavy load from components like A/C, stereo, lighting, etc.
While a Hyper Ground System aids with more efficient operation of the alternator, a Hyper Voltage System aids with the operation of the battery.
As published from Sun Automobile. HVS is not a plastic box full of looped wires with a fuse, it is more complicated and is comprised of a series of high-performance capacitors which are designed to retain energy from the battery and release it back as necessary to stabilize voltage. HVS has been designed, tested, modified and re-tested before its release to provide the best performance.
Features & Effects:
- Increases torque & horsepower (Model MR)
- Generates cleaner exhaust & improves milage
- Enhances turbo boost response & performance
- Enhances audio sound quality
- LED light to indicate proper connection & operation of unit
- Integrated safety feature to protect the vehicle even if the terminals are connected to oposite lead wires
- Wires are high-quality, thick gauge 99.99% pure copper with multi layered shielding
- Waterproof design
- Guaranteed for up to 1 year
These units can be purchased and installed by Yorkville. Contact Jerry.

Re: What mods can Yorkville do?
Hey,
Well its been a while since I last logged on to the forum etc. Indeed I was in this mood to get really involved again. Don't mind me I was forced to let some of my frustrations comments feedback out. I guess for the most part you can say that I did not have many positive things to say..what came out, just had to come out dude. I'm just not very fond of the NISSAN/INFINITI motor car division..they produce/manufacture great vehicles but they lack the quality customer service, and as well you start realize as time goes by how they have cut corners on the vehicle etc. minor things which most would not notice. Other than that, I mean hey its great to know that I can actually go to an Infiniti Dealership, such as Yorkville, walk in and have them make modifications to the car. You would think that more dealerships would adopt this type of service. Until today I would have never thought that this was accepted or honourable to do on a Warranty vehicle etc. Interesting I must say..

Just bear in mind, these are small simple mods which don't VOID the warranty. Speak to me in regards to other items. I can always try my best tp clarify, if there is a concern.

Man I wish I had a dealership in Ottawa that had any clue about anything.I wanted to install a stillen engine damper and a rogue short shifter but being that it's been -30c outside here, I figured that I may as well get the dealer to do it with my oil change.LOL.Well' the service manager was unsure how the "mods" would affect warranty.LOL.It gets better. First' he didn't know what an engine damper was. After I told him he said that maybe it would void warranty because the engine was supposed to move.Same thing happened with the shifter.Idiots, I even asked him if he knew anything about cars at all, cause this guy seemed more like an encyclopedia salesman. My god I wish I lived closer to Yorkville Infiniti.I ended up waiting for a warmer day and installed them myself.I can't wait to see what they say when they see the tokicos, espeir springs and the 350evo sway bars going on in March, and if it ever comes out maybe the APS plenum.

There must be another dealer not too far away-- how about Hull, or even Montreal? Go into www.infiniti.ca for an address book of all the dealers here in Ontario/Quebec. There may be one not too far from you.
Only alternative is do it yourself or make the trip to GTA and see Jerry at Yorkville Infiniti. You know you'll get treated right there.
Colin
Believe me if there was another dealership within a 3 hr drive I would be going there but the closest one is in T.O. which is about 4hrs legally driven.LOL.The other is in Montreal which is about 3 hrs away and I don't parle the francais to good me so that's not really an option. If I do go about getting anything serious put in I'll will definitely be making the trip to Yorkville.

No mod voids warranty unless it "absolutely" caused the problem that the car is having a problem with.

As with most performance enhancing mods, manufactures frown upon "any" mods..believe it or not, HONDA for example does not even like the idea of an aftermarket alarm to be installed.
It very clearly states in your Warranty Guide book as follows:
"WHAT IS NOT COVERED:"
*Any repairs required as a result of modifications to the vehicle to accept-non-NISSAN/INFINITI-approved parts or accessories.
Its a very vague description - but non the less the meaning is there.
For example something as simple as installing lowering springs on your car will void the warranty on the strut/shock/ball joints/links etc....the car was not designed to run at the lowered rate for extended periods...so the theory is that lowering the car has increased the wear factor because of the increased rate of tension, and compression, has changed the angle to which the ball joints sit.... etc. etc....etc...
This is a change in component, description is to non Nissan approved parts, hence voiding warranty...
Here is another simple example and this could also potentially void the warranty - installing a non- oe manufacturer air filter....because of the possiblitly that the aftermarket filter may not have the filtration specifications of a original equipement filter, therefore excess particulates may enter the engine, causing buildup of sludge in the engine. I had a friend lose engine warranty because of this- dumb guy left his cone filters in when he brought the car in for warranty on his Turbo RX7, needless to say he got rid of the car right away..but the manufactures will put up a fight to not pay if there has been tampering or alterations. It is up to the dealer to ensure the manufacturer is kept abreast of the mods or changes to a car if it has affected the car which requires warranty work- due to the parts replacement or install of an aftermarket component....unfortunately this practice is true of many automotive dealers, the guidelines set out by the head company whatever, or whoever that might be, must be adhered to, there is too much at risk for a dealer to not adhere to these guidelines, potential for warranty charge backs etc.
Its tough not to modify the car when you have the MODDER bug at bay, and its so much fun, and satisfying to see a MOD actually making the difference in the way the car performs. I should know, I have this sickness I am a MODDER myself....I believe they have a group called "Modder's anonymous" just for people like me.
