How to avoid points from tickets
This doesn't work. It's a hoax as seen in post #7. Nice detective work Wgmg!
This system has been tried and it works in every province. If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, you are going to get points on your license, this is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get the points. When you get your fine, send in a check to pay for it. If the fine is $79.00 make the check out for $82.00 or some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference, however here is the trick. DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK! Throw it away!Points are not assessed to your license until all financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT complete. The system has received it's money and is satisfied and will no longer bother you. This information comes from an unmentioned computer company that sets up the standard databases used by every province.
I don't know if this works or not, it was just emailed to me. Worth a try though!

i've read this somewhere before. can't remember if it was here or some other forum.
in my mind i can't believe that this would work... it doesn't make sense that their accounting system would be so tied-into as to influence or hang up your driving record. by paying your ticket (even if it is some sort of overage), you are essentially pleading guilty... and your driving record rectified as so.
i think anyone who would believe this whole-heartedly would be a fool. if it was this easy... everyone would be using it today, and there's be a ton of crazy drivers out there. but it just isn't so.
just my .02$

I think its a clever approach, but to be honest, I am doubtful.
More than likely, once the cheque is issued a record of the settlement would be kept on file - whether or not I cash the cheque, they have issued it to me and that would be the end of that.
Someone must have some experience with this .... anyone???

It's a hoax that has been in circulation for about 10 years.

lol
+1...
imagine the amount of people that DID not cash their cheques or "threw it away" ROFL...... i'm sure they will not go through the trouble to get the 2$ or 3$ refund back.
Even an extra 50cents from every person will result in staggering amounts of $$$$ that someone at accounting has put to good use. lol.. awesome.. the way we humans think... just ****en awesome.
