Non-revup G's, have any oil leak issues? Check this thread.

My G has had pretty much all of the known 2003 issues, window motor fail, actuator fail, rear axle clicking, rear shelf rattle, exhaust leak, etc etc...

So I decided to be proactive since I'm out of warranty to see what else 2003's have problems with and I came by this thread, oil leak because of crack valve cover..

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...rranty-up.html

I'm at 107K KM, right about where MANY posters in the thread have said they have had this issue... I'm assuming I will have this issue and just see what I should do to prepare for the worst. My plan of action is to change to Iridium spark plugs at APH, see if there are any leaks, if so then get the parts as cheap as possible somehow, kiji guy, riverside infiniti, etc....

Anyone in GTA has had this issue, what'd you do?

Thanks

Makes me want to check mine.

And I'm hoping this somehow would not apply to me. The previous owner apparently didn't have many of the common issues I'm hearing about. I checked his paperwork but also called directly to the dealers where he went to and everything matched up.

Gonna change my plugs to iridium and see if anything comes up....

Hossmaxima, do you remember how much it all came out to be? parts and labor?

Ok... went out this evening to check my plugs in 2nd, 4th, and 6th cylinders. Hit the jockpot with the 6th one... not a lot of oil, but it's there.

This is BS!

Didn't get to the other side as it was getting late and once I found the oil in the 6th one... kind of don't care about the rest... they will have to be addressed together with all of them.

Getting in touch with Infiniti tomorrow.

From the video, there's a lot of screws and such to get to the spark plugs right?

If you're out of warranty you can visit APH to do the fix, they have done quite a bit of fixes with it. I'm bringing mine soon.

I'm just hoping I don't need a new valve cover, just gasket.

Well, yeah, you got this electrical wire thats REALLY in the way, so you got to unscrew the clips that hold it... it's not too bad. To be honest, easier than I thought... and I'm not that mechanically inclined! I'd probably replace the spark plugs down the road now that I've done this.

My car had been off for 3+ hours when I went to check... but it was still warm and leaning over it caused me to get all sweaty so the cooler the car is, the more pleasant this will be.

I'll let you guys know how my interaction with Infiniti goes... this will be my first taste/test.

If you need a new valve cover its quite costly, valve cover and gasket for total $300 CDN from a guy on Kiji. Labor about $60-120 or so
