Buying a new car is dumb. As soon as you sign the papers it's worth $5000 less than what you paid, as soon as it drives off the lot, another $5000 down the drain.

Buy a demo car or a slightly used car.

S2000 FTW

I had a Tiburon GTV6, every problem possible until happily, my girlfriend wrote it off.

Stay away from Hyundai. don't be fooled by their low price (like we were)...there's a reason for that, they get their money back on repairs, 10 fold!

You basically just called a heck of lot of people here..."Dumb"
Is it dumb to pay cash (no interest) for a reliable car, completely under warranty which can be extended and drive it hassle free for the next 10 years.
I’d be willing to bet a lot of guys borrowed the money (paying interest) to buy a previously driven 4year old (or older), out of warranty vehicle. We don’t call them dumb. We congratulate them.
BTW N1 - between the 2 options you gave I'd choose the Gen Coupe but I would still look at the Alt Coupe or Accord Coupe before either of them.

Quote: I would get the model thats lower than the Evo but a step above the Lancer its AWD dive and turbo. I am not a big Mitsu fan but the Eclipse would be my last pick. An Altima coupe would also be better than the eclipse IMO.
Is that the Ralliart?

My vote would also be 'neither'. I don't like the looks of the Genesis, and the Eclipse is a chick car.

If I were looking for something smaller-ish and AWD, I'd look hard at a Subie 265. Not sure if that's maybe a step up in price, though.

"For the 2009 model year, Mitsubishi announced the Lancer Ralliart -- the latest addition to the Lancer family. The car is powered by a new 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC intercooled and turbocharged engine that develops an estimated 235 horsepower. The engine is mated to Mitsubishi's Twin Clutch-SST gearbox, featuring manual and automatic shift modes.

The Lancer Ralliart is positioned between the regular Lancer sedan and the new Evolution X. The car is visually distinguished by a more aggressively styled front bumper design, rear bumper cover, dual outlet muffler and a lightweight aluminum, ducted hood that delivers cooling air to the turbocharger.

The Lancer Ralliart's full-time 4WD driveline features Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD). "

Vic from Simone Performance and I were talking the other day and he mentioned he went for a test drive in the Genesis. He said he was not happy with the performance at all. He had specifically stated that they may claim 300 or so HP but it felt as though it only had 150.

Vic was quite disappointed.
