I caved... and ordered the PC from Eshine.ca

When you say "kind of hazed"; which part of the process are you on, the first or second compounding step? If so that is completely normal, it is micromarring from the larger abrasives (they leave very small micro scratches behind, and it appears as a haze), you clean it up by using a less aggressive pad/polish (as I am sure you know), and just experimenting really until you find a process from step 1-> finishing polish that works.
What process are you using, anyway? 105/orange then 205/white? You'll probably need to finish with 205/black, and you *may* need a 105/white step in between somewhere. It's a lot of work getting it right.

I noticed when I recompounded with the 105 orange a second time the haze went away. i was using your guide you posted in the detailing section except it wasnt the same 105 205 so I was trying to get as close as I could.
is it dangerous to recompound too many times?

I was doing 105 yellow and 205 orange... I will try what you said.

Yep, that was the first pic. Since that I redid the 105/205 and the haze was removed. Not as easy as it looked in your demo! haha

By the time you do a few cars for friends and family you'll be wielding that PC like a sword. It looks like you're well on your way, I can't wait to see the pics of the end results. Like I said above, if you have any more questions lemme know.

Hey Kevin, how many cars can you compound before the pads should be changed typically? Or how do I know when I need new pads?

As far as I am aware the pads are good until they start falling apart. I wash mine with warm water then they get too caked with crap. My heavy yellow disintegrated after last years PC beating on the pearl white. But I should never need to go that heavy again.
Sorry, I know I'm not Kevin. :P

I think the washing machine would be overkill.... Even with my harshest menzerna chem's I was able to get the pads nearly back to store quality with just soaking them in a hot sink for a while a couple times... I just rubbed them with my hands and the chunks and crud just fell off or melted away in the water. Hope that helps.
