My father-in-law has a Chevy S10 with 200+K miles ( about 320,000 Km ) and that truck was used to haul caterpillar parts in construction sites and what not and it's falling apart but it still does it's job well. He once wanted to put it like new again and when I got done estimating how much it would cost to repair it, it came out to almost twice what the vehicle was worth. In the end, he just plans to drive it to the ground and them throw it away...lol.

My modding bug is gone for a LONG time now!
I bought a kayak and extras on Saturday afternoon, went home, got ready for a wedding reception, then on my way to pick up the gf SMOKED a raccoon going 140 :S
I have a cracked front bumper, my undercar plastic is destroyed and my new winter beater (F150) is another payment coming out... all together I'm about $3500 down

I cerrtainly know your situation Ian. $3700. including all the repairs on the I30 and it still needs another wheel bering, brake job for the Pathy, compression rods still need to be installed on the G, trip to Cuba with the Family coming up in November, friends wedding coming up and last but not least we want to get our basement done this winter!

The modding is definitly on hold for me.

Yeah, it's those unexpected outlays that hurt.
