If you have jack stands you should probably just put those under it. It's better off not on the ground at all than on mats.

Change the oil about a week for so before it goes in.
Give it a good clean and SEAL it not wax it seal it. Then when it comes out wash it with Dawn and polish/wax etc.

Where are you storing it? Heated or non heated?
