What's a fair price for my Coupe?

As many of you are aware, I'm seriously thinking of a new 'M' which will be available sometime next spring.
I'm thinking that if I sold my Coupe now it would be worth slightly more than then, so my question is what to ask now for it?

For anyone who doesn't know my ride, it's a fully loaded '03 Silverstone/Graphite Coupe A/T with 17k kilometers.

My mods include, TD Borla, Crawford Plenum, K&N Intake, Splash G's, Grounding Gear, and Clear corners.

Including the 4 Yokohama snows on Enkei CDR9 rims, I have about $5k into it and would prefer to sell as is, and not part.

I've kept all the OEM pieces including the intakes, exhaust, and plenum for possible replacement should that be needed, and have a record of any maintenance done so far.

What do you think I could get for it all inclusive? I'm in the GTA area.

Sorry, no ad in Autos for sale, it seems to be down for repairs and won't accept my ad.

Colin.

Re: What's a fair price for my Coupe?

When you say fully loaded does that include NAV?

On Autotrader they are selling between $40-$42k - I'm not sure how much more you can get with your aftermarket mods, but usually you are better off to part them. I'm assuming you will sell privately and not trade-in to dealer - dealers usually will not give any premium for the aftermarket stuff and generally will want you to restore to OEM.

I don't know, if with NAV maybe try for $42-45k?

For a 1-2yrs vehicle, aftermarket parts will drop the vehicle's resale value significantly. That's why it's hard to see any show car sell it as is.
I would suggest you to take off crawford plenum, grounding gear, and KN intake at least. It is because they are easy to remove, high resale value, and able to keep your engine bay looks stock and clean.

I would say about $40K is the fair price.

Re: What's a fair price for my Coupe?

Jandc and Saridi, Yes my ride has all options including Nav, and I was thinking in terms of around $40k somewhere. Just needed more opinions and feedback to confirm.

Not sure yet what the dealer will give on a trade, prolly around 38-39k (without 'extras') which is same as 40-41 private sale when the tax saving is included. (plus I could get something for exhaust, intakes and winter wheels).

I hate private sales, they're such a PITA, but if a member is interested, I wouldn't refuse, and he/she may be interested in the aftermarket parts without the hassle of changing them.

I thought I'd put it out there anyway just in case one of us is in the market.

I wonder how much the new 'M' is going to be? I'm optimistic they won't go up too much from the '04's. We'll see.

TNX guys.

Colin.

Re: What's a fair price for my Coupe?

hey mang

If you put your car up.. put it up FOR HIGH... I got SOOOO many offers after I sold my loaded 6 speed with nav and blizzaks for 43500.
I got a offer for 46 ... I shoulda waited.

my car had a bump in the rear bumper.... a door dent in the passenger, a key on the fender.... it had 29 k on it.

It was nice all over except for that .. but dude.. I tell yah.. I WISH I had asked for more.

Good luck... and hope to see the M. I love em, my vette is goin well.. got some black rims... etc.. Ill post some pics later.

Re: What's a fair price for my Coupe?

Colin,
I let some people know your car is for sale and will continue to spread the word...

That new M is nice!
Worst case, if you trade in at least you save the tax -- either way I guess there's a PITA factor (private sale = PITA; trade-in = PITA of replacing the OEM's and selling the mods)

Good luck either way. If any guys at the C7 meet are liking the G we'll tell them about your car...

Re: What's a fair price for my Coupe?

Thanks Kyle. I appreciate the good words.
Don't mind either way about the mods. Easy enough to go back to stock. But if one of our members or whomever like the ride, they'd prolly want the same mods.(big savings)
As far as tax saving goes, I plan on arranging the deal thru my dealership so I can save the tax anyway. $6k is too much to pass up and will go a long way to paying the difference on an M.

Thanks for the help Kyle. There's still some decent 'G' months left 'till the snow flies, so I thought I'd try and move it now rather than next year.
You come up with anyone, I'll make it worth your while.
Muchos Gracias.
Colin.

Re: What's a fair price for my Coupe?

Fully loaded 03 w/ 17 K km, most you'd get from a dealer would be about $40 K (assuming you traded it now before the 05 coupes come).

If you sold it privately, you could get about $43 K I think.

BTW, I think you're better off parting out the mods.
