What kind of TV did you end up getting? I bought mine as a Boxing Day special as well. Saw your Paradigm speaker box... good call.

It's called 'California Ceiling'
You basically stucco the ceiling then when it starts to set a bit you scrap it down removing all the bumps.
It takes a lot of practice!

^It's called shaved stipple - at least around here. I have it in my living room, dining room, main & upstairs hall, rec room in basement.

It's a nice affect. In some cases it can help hide flaws with the ceiling or seams etc.

...knocked down here in the YYC...
I wish I'd spent the extra $1500 to have it done when I built. Man, I hate popcorn ceilings.

Yeah, my reno guy called it "California Knockdown", had mine done that way to match the rest of the house. Ten years on, it still looks great.

Looks great I like the shaved stipple look our old house had it. Our house now has all kinds of fancy work in the roof i personally think its ugly. Now we can't do some rennos we wanted because no one can match the intricate work on the roof shaved with pot lights looks the best IMO

Yes that's right California ceiling looks great and it hides imperfections, our guy told us it was 100. Bucks more because it would shave have the time in mudding and sanding so it would be quicker for him.
Asside from a couple of light fixtures all things are on hold now because i'm waiting for my flooring to come in hopefully next week, then the rest should get done quick.

FINALLY MY FLOOR IS IN!

I'm starting the install this week then the reno continues.

Man all the cash I put into my basement I could have had a twin Turbo setup and more.........but I'm not that foolish (you older guys can relate now the younger lads may dissagree)

I found some Sick Energy speakers for my surround sound on kijiji this past weekend .....man I love that site.

UPDATE
Its been a while since I posted some more pics so here is the latest in my progress, the flooring was installed last weekend and yesterday I installed the cabinets for my bar with the help of my buddy. I also put my Energy in- Wall speakers in, these will be used for dual purpose 1 for my rears in my surround setup and 2 I ran another set of wires to my DJ room so when I have a party I can play music through them.

I also bought a set of Energy Tower speakers along with the center channel.....good old kijiji comes through again, I paid $500. for the 3 speakers when they retail for $1500.

I also got some new speakers and wall brackets for my DJ room along with a DJ painting which looks real cool.

This week the doors and trim go in along with the finnishing of the bar.
