So, I picked my G up from Hyatt today after getting my 18km service done. I must not of noticed it when I got into the car, but when I got home and turned off the car the Navi system and radio stayed on. I tried starting the car and turning it off again to see if it was just a fluke but the Navi once again stayed on and so did the stereo.

It's almost like the car is stuck in the ACC position, even though it shows that it is in LOCK. Now it's the weekend and the service dept is closed until Monday. Short of disconnecting the battery to avoid draining it, I have no clue what else to try. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

Crazy thing is, it was just supposed to be basically an oil change so not sure why the electrical would be malfunctioning...

 

That is a strange one, but as far as I can see, disconnecting the battery is your only solution until you can return to the dealer Monday.

What about pulling the fuse for that system?
That just happened to my 1997 beater truck last week. I turned it off and the radio and digital clock stayed on. I finally found the fuse for it in the fuse panel and removed it. At least it wouldn't drain my battery.
I will try and fix it once the weather warms up.

 

It's probably an issue with the cold weather. My experience is "funny" things happen with temperature changes and really frigid temps.....

 

Hasn't really been that cold here. Shafty, I think a disconnect is your solution. I would disconnect overnight and try it tomorrow morning if I were you.

Thanks guys. It went from bad to worse, though. I fell asleep last night(!) and didn't get a chance to disconnect the battery and sure enough, now it's dead!

Now I need to get the car out of my garage so I can get it boosted.

With a dead battery, how do I get the car into neutral so I can roll it out of the garage???

 

On the 03, i just turn the key to ACC and shift it into neutral as you would with the car on, not sure if it still works with your 07 tho~

 

...there's also an electronic interlock that must be released manually.
Check your owner's manual for the tool (in the toolkit) and how to use it in the small access port next to the gear shift. You'll see a small, slotted cover the size of a dime that will pop out and the small end of the tool is inserted to release the interlock that in turn releases the gearshift.

It's best to use a stand alone battery to jump start the car instead of the usual cables from another car's battery due to sensitive electronics.

Thanks, Colin. Got it moved and boosted. I'll let it run for a while to re-charge and then try disconnecting to see if that (hopefully) resets everything.

Okay, one more question (please no snickering - I'm not really a car guy...)

Will the battery fully re-charge via the alternator? I thought it would but I saw saw this quote on the 'net so now I'm not sure:

"Although an alternator will not fully charge a battery during operation of the vehicle, it will restore enough charge back to the battery to allow the internal cold cranking amps of the battery start the vehicle on the next attempt."

 

Battery disconnect didn't solve the problem. Guess it's back to Hyatt I go...
