Fail to stop at Red light ...
Yeah, last March, a rather young, blonde, Police Officer gave me a ticket for not completely stopping at an intersection. I told her I thought I did, she disagreed and said that I rolled through the intersection at between 15 - 20 km. She said that normally she wouldn't have bothered stopping me but she was ordered to police this particular intersection as there had been many problems.
Do any of you know of any technical information, or where I can find some, as to how long it would take our cars to stop from 15 km on dry pavement?
I tried it since and it seemed to me that she could have blinked and missed my stopping.
And yes, she was quite attractive. I've always been a sucker for a woman in uniform, specially when they have a gun.

it doesn't matter if she blinked, by law you have to stop for a min of 2 or 5 seconds (i forget which) when your turning on a red. My buddy got ticketed 2 years ago for the same thing, they didn't argue whether he stopped or not, but they said he didn't stop long enough either way. so i highly down your gonna be successful in arguing the cop closed her eyes for 2-5 seconds and missed your entire stop

i think its like a stop sign. complete stop, and usually they enforce 3 seconds during driving test.

I don't wanna get into a whole lecture about the legal system, but you can't just look at provisions of the Highway Traffic Act to see what the driving laws are. Statutes delegate regulatory power to the executive Governor in Council and/or to a municipal council, which means you also have to read by-laws and regulations that affect the statutory provisions. Then after that you have to look at all the common law interpretations that courts have given that specific statutory provision; a law that you have to stop at an intersection in order to avoid hazards means nothing until a judge interprets what is a reasonable period of time to stop to avoid hazards. It can be 3 sec, 5 sec, or whatever he decides. The moral of this story is we in the legal community make the law so complicated that we force the average person like you to hire us as lawyers to interpret the law lol
